View Full Version : Regarding the Kenwood System in the MAZDASPEEDs..
After much listening, adjusting, and more listening; what I am finding (at least so far) is the best (speaker on/off) settings overall, that I have found, are when the Subwoofer and Speaker settings are set to "OFF".
It seems a bit odd, for sure. Maybe the way the system is configured with the Excelon speaker, and amplifier components, the settings on the Kenwood 919 are overridden? When I choose the 8" Sub to "ON", I personally don't think it sounds as good, as when it is swtched to "OFF".
Any other opinions on this?

I am yet to determine what sounds best. I started to theorize that the Speaker/Woofer settings (configured by pressing Q/AUD after setting the SRC to "ALL OFF") were solely to tweak the "Q" settings in the regualr Audio control panel, but even with them set to OFF I can adjust the Q settings. Right now I too have them both to "OFF" but I have not had time to play.

I'm beginning to agree with you. I think that when the sub is set to 8in the bass is tighter but definitely not as loud or strong. When it's off, it's the bass is much more noticable but sounds as though there's more distortion. One man's opinion anyway... I still haven't decided which I like better.

....the whole thing is pretty 'oddball', without a doubt. And; you know, the dealers will be clueless about anything to do with the Kenwood. Ha! Questions/answers arising about this are completely in the hands of the MAZDASPEED owners.
