my guess, disconnect the old battery. put the new one in.
IMHO, Optimas are a waste of money. I've seen people have nothing but trouble.

Optimas don't perform bad at all if you take care of them properly.
You'll need to put a spacer under the bottom to raise up the battery, since the Optima is shorter than the stock battery.

Miatas come with a small factory AGM battery, many of which last 10 years or more, and an Optima is just a higher quality AGM.
I've got one in my Miata for a couple years now - I'll report back in 8 or 10 more and let you know how it's going . . . . . ;)

i looked at the top of the Yellowtop battery - it had a removable guard or bracket which looked like it would go under the battery to raise it up.
Search also - this has been asked before...

My red top fits in my car just fine. There is a spacer that you put inder it to raise it up. I don't like the stock battery tie down bar, ( it looks unfinished) so I made my own.
As for the life of Optima batteries. I have one in the Pro, one in my 66 Mustang & the one in my truck has been there since 1999. Before that is was in my Jeep since 1997. So its 9 years old already

The different colors of batteries aren't just for looks they are different kinds of batteries. The blue is a deep cycle. The red is for normal vehicles and the yellow is for vehicles that have numerous accesories attached like lights, whinches, big ass stereo. It's not just a cosmetic thing.

i thought blue was for marine, meaning boats?.. i have the yellow top in mine and it works great, i didn't even put the spacer underneath mine i just made an adjustment to the tie down.

I have never seen an orange top Optima. somebody must have painted it.
The OPTIMA® is like no other battery found in today's market. OPTIMA's unique Spiralcell design offers the greatest technology in providing a strong and clean power source that far surpasses any of today's filled lead/acid batteries. With OPTIMA under your hood, you can count on a longer lasting battery life under starting and deep cycle applications. Today's power demand from cars, trucks, and SUVs are greater than ever. Over the course of the century we have upgraded and customized our vehicles in such a way never imagined by early engineers. There continue to be
more lights, LCD screens, gaming systems, stereos, laptops, and cell phones going into cars, all demanding a greater power source. OPTIMA can provide all the power needed to run these power pulling vehicles. OPTIMA batteries always has safety in mind, with its spill-proof case it helps to ensure the safety of the environment, your family and you. Powerful, 2x longer-life, safety, spill-proof, vibration resistance, multi-position installation whether you're working, driving cross country or for just play, let OPTIMA help you maintain the power demands you require.
The OPTIMA RedTop
The looks alone generate plenty of buzz. But it's the patented SPIRALCELL® Technology in OPTIMA RedTop batteries that's truly worthy of praise. OPTIMA RedTop batteries are built to withstand the abuse Trucks, SUV's and 4x4's experience on and off-road. SPIRALCELL Technology immobilizes the internal components of the battery, enabling OPTIMA batteries to withstand incredible amounts of vibration.
Vehicles modified for better engine performance demand more from a battery. OPTIMA batteries withstand the high underhood temperatures associated with these Performance vehicles. The sealed cells make the battery spill-proof, even if you install it on its side! This prevents external gassing and leaking which can damage engine components and limit battery performance.
If your battery is used in vehicles that demand extra reliability and performance, or if you just take pride in getting the best performance out of your vehicle, OPTIMA RedTop batteries deliver the performance you demand.
The OPTIMA YellowTop
Demand more from your vehicle? Then get more from your battery. OPTIMA YellowTop batteries are made for the extremes. If you have an extreme vehicle, you expect high performance. Whether your vehicle is made to take the abuse of off-road driving or cranking out decibels, you need more from your battery. OPTIMA batteries with patented SPIRALCELL® Technology deliver that performance. The deep cycle characteristic of this technology coupled with its extreme resistance to vibration provides performance vehicles with the repetitive power they need in a spill-proof package.
If your vehicle has a lot of accessories like running lights, high-performance stereo/AV system, winches, or hydraulics, your vehicle demands more from its battery. OPTIMA YellowTOP batteries provide the extra performance and deep cycling capability that your vehicle demands.
The OPTIMA® BlueTop battery will keep you on the water longer. Its patented SPIRALCELL® Technology means more running time, faster recharge, and up to twice the life of traditional marine and RV batteries.
Vibration Resistant
The OPTIMA® is over 15 times more resistant to vibration than other batteries. The constant vibration and jarring from waves can be deadly for traditional marine batteries. The tightly wound construction in OPTIMA® batteries minimizes plate movement and subsequent damage caused by harsh conditions - extending battery life.
Nonspillable/Maintenance Free
The OPTIMA® is spill-proof and maintenance free. Because of its completely sealed case, OPTIMA® batteries are extremely safe. Acid can't leak or spill, making them clean, user-friendly and environmentally sound. In addition, the maintenance free sealed case design eliminates the need to add water or clean terminals. OPTIMA® Blue Top batteries are spill proof, so they can be mounted anyplace inside a boat or RV, in almost any position.
Retains Charge Longer / Recharges Faster
In the off-season, sometimes marine batteries sit for months at a time and lose their charge. But the OPTIMA BlueTop battery has such a low rate of self-discharge, that it can go unused for up to one year without recharging, if kept at or below room temperature. And because of its low internal resistance, it recharges faster, getting you back on the water quickly.

where can i get this spacer that everyone talks about? cuz my battery keeps dying and ima get a yellow top i guess, any other specifics i need to know or just yellow?

There are actually 2 different blue tops. One is actually a true marine battery which has a darker grey bottom and has the pretty marine sticker on it and the other is a normal deep cycle that people used mostly in there boats. I believe the one style is a newer addition specifically for boat use because of the added moisture.
Maybe the owner of the orange top is color blind.lol. Just kiddin man. Must be a red or yes painted.

And where did you get your A/N fittings
When I got my CAI it looked too plain so I stuck my kartboy sticker on the MAF.
As for the fittings I originally got them for my 66 Mustang but never got around to putting them on the Pony. I ran out of red ones and had to use 2 blue ones that were from my old Jeep.
Sold the Jeep and the Mustang is still running black rubber hoses.

blue is marine for boats.
yellow is deep discharge for people who have a lot of stuff sucking power like a nice sound system, etc.
red is for performance...everyday use.
you need a spacer under the battery to fit. mine is made of plexy (sp) and spray painted w/ some heat resistant paint. stock wires will reach fine.

What kind of material (aluminum)? Is that anodized or painted?

What kind of material (aluminum)? Is that anodized or painted?
It started as a 2 foot piece of raw flat steel.
It has been cut, grinded, shaped, primed & painted with duplicolor metalcast blue annodized paint. Its the same paint that I used on my calipers, radiator cap and center dash.
