COBB Tuning is considering expanding its line of performance shift knobs into the MAZDASPEED3 & 6 markets. We would like to gauge the interest from the MAZDASPEED community to see if this is something we should start producing. Let us know if you would consider buying a COBB Knob and if you have a color preference. Here is a bit of background information and a few photos of our shift knob:

http://www.cobbtuning.com/images_products/L_4309.jpghttp://farm3.static.flickr.com/2508/4120620222_3c41b7690c_o.jpg

The COBB Knob is a fusion of the highest quality materials that, when properly mated, produce a shift knob that feels as good as it looks. The COBB Knob is designed to keep those extended shifting sessions exhilarating. The blue anodized billet aluminum base is internally threaded to provide a tight fit onto the shifter shaft that won't come loose in the most frenzied of gear changes. The matte black delrin knob has a perfectly round contour to fit right in the palm of your hand. The package is complete with a COBB logo boldly engraved into the base to let everyone know whose knob you hold.

The COBB Knob weighs around 105 grams and will be priced around $65.

most definitely would go for the red one if nicely weighted, threaded like stock, and priced right.

I would probably put a red one on my X-mas wish list if reasonably priced.

I would love to have a red one...are they weighted?

Silver Ecstasy
11-20-2009, 09:31 PM
I'd consider it if they were weighted, engraved and inexpensive? I have a TWM shift knob that I am very happy with, except for the $100+ price tag..

But, instead of a shift knob, I'd appreciate if COBB renewed it's interest in designing parts for 1st Gen and 2nd Gen Mazdaspeed3 owners, regardless of other forums attitudes. Gary Sheehan should not have pulled the plug on the MS3..period.

We want COBB's products because we expect the same quality, R&D, innovation and results that are seen in other vehicle platforms. But, issues have plagued releases from the start. If that could be changed, it'd be uplifting to say the least!

Niel was suppose to fabricate one for me several months back, but i never placed the order because the intakes were on back order and that was the main part i wanted... I've been regretting it ever since, so im in for a group buy, esp. if the price is good.. also can you pm me about the BOV.. thanks

i personally am happy with the stock knob but am still curious about estimated cost and what the weight is on this one.

Also just would like to say that I am very happy and excited to see you guys[COBB] sticking with this market.

i too agree with Silver Ecstacy, i would love to see COBB take interest in the MS3 again regardless of stubborn people and forums because your going to get that no matter what make and model of car it is, idk just my opinion.

but yes this shift knob is a must! and may i suggest more color options with the black? colors aside from red and blue such as purple, all black, green, orange, yellow...idk it would be cool for custom colors to go with the color scheme to that of someones car! i know id order black/purple in a hearbeat.

I run the cobb sts without the shift boot and the blue/black will be a perfect match...
are they still gonna run $65 ?

Well as a person who uses Cobb products I would ofcourse be interested in the shift knob if its as atleast as heavy as our stock knob, more would be prefered. And that the price is reasonable which I do believe it will be. Keep it up Cobb,Thanks for not letting a few d-bags from other mazda forums ruin it for the mature car owners in the Mazda community.:D

No boot at all? You don't worry about shit falling into your shifter assembly? Or dirt and grime getting ground up on that ball you grease in the cup.

Price would be the decider for me. I'd go with blue.

bigdaddy
11-23-2009, 12:26 AM
also, I would seriously consider it if it was engraved with the same pattern as stock. IMO, i think it looks a bit bare, and maybe, if I dare say, ricey? It would benefit with the shift pattern engraved into it

It's a very nice knob. Good stuff Cobb.

A shift knob is just not something I, personally, would drop around 100 bucks on.

I would limit myself at $100. Its nonsense to pay even that much, but you are holding it very frequently

been running it for about a year
nah...I have not had stuff fall in there at all.

as far as dirt and stuff going on the ball...its easy to clean up..no biggie.

I'm not paying any more than $65...which is what the subie one's go for on cobb site.

I'd be in for a reasonable price, but only if it was called the "Cobb Knobb" hehe.

Shouldn't it just be a matter of taking the blank for a subie and drilling/tapping for the MS3 thread? (shrug)

We are looking for feedback from you guys on color, hence the poll.

The weight will be similar to that of the Subaru knobs, around 105-110 grams, so it will not be overly heavy.

The price will still be below $100, we are looking at targeting around $65.

From the posts before, it seems black/red/blue are the ones most people want.

Personally i would choose either black or red to match the interior.

or even a silver to match the trim as well...with a red collar...

SallySpeed3

I would definitely be interested in one. Black with red would be nice, as long as it somewhat matches the interior.

Definitely interested. Just a suggestion, for matching interiors, black/red for the MS3, and black/silver base for the MS6. I want something that doesn't stick out too much. Not really worried about engraving or weight though.

Guys, if the price is the same as the Suby knob, it's $65.

Depending on price, I would probably buy one. I would really like to see all black with red lettering...think that would match the interior very well.

Cobb has had the ability to manufacter these knobs for A YEAR no.. if you go to the website they have the exact knob your voting on for the WRX platforms. they can machine it to fit the MS3/MS6.. just call Neil.. you guys are making this WAY to complicated..
