i thought i read about this in another thread, but after 15min of searching cant find it.

when i was cleaning out all the old maps off my ap i must have somehow deleted my stock map. i kno im an idiot. but i need to take my car in for some service and dont want it going in with a cobb map on there.

so my question is, if i unmarry the ap from my ecu will it go back to normal on its own, and will mazda notice that i flashed it??

If you unmarry the AP it'll go back to stock I'm pretty sure. Then when you marry it back up it'll again ask you if you want to save the stock map IIRC.

You need to ask Cobb, but I'm pretty darn sure it will load the stock map from the AP. When you flash the ECU the first time, the OEM map is GONE unless you saved it.

Onelsono did the same thing as you if im not mistaken. He lost the stock map and just unmarried the AP and it went back to stock automatically. Make sure you drive a little with the unmarried AP because they can tell the last time you reset your battery and the likes.

I believe the latest AP Firmware always contains the latest stock map from Mazda. It may not be your stock map, but it is suitable and in some cases may even be better than what you had before.

. . . **clipped** . . . It may not be your stock map, but it is suitable and in some cases may even be better than what you had before. When you say "your" stock map, what would be different, and how could it be better?

The stock map is updated from time to time by Mazda. You wouldn't get the updated map unless you took your car in for a dealer visit.

so is cobb's stock map the one I had before I did the voluntary emission reflash that robbed my car of so much power?

Probably not, but I imagine they have a copy of that original map.

So why bother uploading the stock version from my ECU . . . it takes an extra 1/2 hour?

No one's ever really been able to answer that question for me. As far as I'm concerned, there really isn't any point.

btw . . . it's arrived, so I'm picking mine up & installing it tomorrow!!! yea me!!!

Hey guys, when you install the AccessPORT and it asks if you want to save the ROM, it saves it to the AccessPORT. You can't erase or access this information so there is no danger of deleting it. When you uninstall the AccessPORT it will flash this saved map onto your ECU. If you skipped this step, it will save a "stock" rom back onto your ECU. This is the exact ROM that the factory loads onto new cars. So either way, you are covered.
