It's the Team Panda japan decal. I just took the jpg and drawed the panda in Corel so I could cut it.
I just love how it looks, I have no connections with Team Panda :)

It was around that, invoice was 14,800. After all the fees and taxes its get up to (and over) 16 grand quickly. Add in the fact that the dealer supply is very limited right now, means you're not gonna have much wiggle room on that number.
In fact, of the 9 or so dealers around Chicago, two of em have the 2s in so far. The sales guy was telling me that the brass hats from Japan were in there earlier that same day doing a final checkup on the cars.

Slick lookin wheels dude. What's the sizing on them? They must be 15's as it seems you put the stock tires on them.
hansolocujo
09-06-2010, 03:29 AM
Ya they are 15's x 7. I wanted to use the stock tires to get some use out of them, once they are worn out I'll switch to some wider summer performance tires.

Excellent work!!What was the power gain from the full exhaust? What is the diameter of the pipe?
Looks very nice with 17'(?) Kosei K1 ts but now needs power for these wheels.

09-08-2010, 07:29 PM
What kind of coilovers are you running? Looks like a custom exhaust what's the diameter. I'd like to see some video to get a feel for how loud it would be.

The antenna I am thinking of using is the AutoExe stubby. Kinds of pricey but it works well.

A VW "bee-sting" style antenna fits fine. Not exactly "stubby" at 19½ inches long, but that's a lot shorter than the stock 30¼ inch antenna. One from a Mazda3 should as well, since they use the same threads.
I used the antenna from my dad's 2002 VW Golf as a test, and reception on AM and the lower half of the FM band (88-98 MHz) are slightly reduced compared to the stock Mazda2 antenna (but still pretty good), while reception on the upper half of FM (98-108 MHz) is actually better than with the stock antenna!
To help you measure the reception, the radio has a hidden signal strength meter, accessed by holding the power button and preset "2" button for about two seconds, then you'll see LEV-# on the display, where # is the signal strength from 1 (weakest) to 9 (strongest), although the highest I ever saw was 8 on FM and 6 on AM, even when tuned to very strong local signals. You can't change bands or use the presets when the signal strength meter is active, but you can use the up/down manual and seek tuning. The meter is cancelled when you turn off the radio.

Please, give us some more info about the exhaust system you've developed.
What was the power gain. What diameter pipes were used?
Make a new topic for the stuff you develop because many people will be interested!!
Thanx in advance

Thanks for the awesome info.
I tried the antenna from a Mazda3, as well as an aftermarket antenna I had on my old 3 and even though the threads match up just fine, the base of the antenna overlaps the stock Mazda2 antenna base. That's the main part I dislike about it. The antenna from a Mazdaspeed3, Mazda CX-7 etc fits as well and even though it still overlaps the base, the rubber base part of the antenna acts kind of like a sheath per say which is a bit nicer I guess. Any who, if that's all I end up finding, I'll probably just go with the aftermarket antenna I had on my old 3 which was only about 3.5" long, meh.

We have the headers( stainless) the stainless cb exhaust, coil overs, sway bar kits, Big Brakes, M'z body work, and we are about to install the new Rotrex Supercharger prototype on the test mule. All this is simply to compliment the fact that we are the only tuning firm offering ECU reflashing for the 2011 Mazda2
The ecu tuning is an extension of the work we have been doing with Mazda on the MazdaSpeed 3 running in Grand Am ST. The Mazda2 can greatly benifit from a simple reflash of the factory ecu; 8-10 whp on a stock car, and a real world rev limiter! Goodby 6300, hello 7500! What a hoot!

Here is our 2011 Mazda2 Touring 5MT and our Mazdaspeed3. I'm not a fan of the bike rack, but it's a necessary evil since we traded in our 6s for the 2. I think I have more fun driving the 2 than my 3.

What is the diameter of the exhaust after the header??(50mm?, 55mm?)
Why you choose -long- 4-1 header?
Here are some pics from my zoom-zoom Mazda 2.
I bought it, 25 June of 2008.

Ok.. Time for some new pics! I know it's not as comprehensive a shoot, but these are the most recent of the whole thing...
Please ignore the ugly mess attached to the TOP of my battery.. I had an unfortunate (read: stupid) incident this weekend with a ratchet, a positive lead and the chassis that blew up my starter/alternator fusible link, and I've had to order a new one... That's all just temporary!
You should be able to see the drop with the H&R springs and the Corksport SRI... I couldn't take a pic of the crankshaft pulley cus its in an very awkward spot to see, but I promise it's in there!

You sure that SRI is installed properly? I noticed you have the two hoses coming from the temp. sensor going to different locations than I do. I checked the Corksport install guide and mine look exactly like the ones in the guide. It might not matter, but I figured I'd give you a head's up.

I saw that too, but I check with the techs at my dealership and they said it didn't matter. Both go to the same chamber in the sensor.

Maybe some constructive comments would be nice? I think it looks pretty good. Certainly a drop would help set off the wheels; but I think the two-tone theme is consistent and well executed.

These things should be black IMHO: side markers, emblem, calipers & fog surrounds. The key when introducing a second color is subtlety. This being said, if you were to paint the calipers black, then add a small red Mazda decal to them, it'd be a nice subtle touch but even if you left it off, still nice. Also, I honestly think the red lip on the wheels is too wide. A nice thin strip would be better. One last thing, I know the AutoExe short antenna is expensive but it's so worth it. It sits flush with the antenna base and is shorter than the Mazdaspeed3 antenna you have there. That idea may just be plain OCD but nevertheless, lol. Aggressive instead of flashy is where it's at but I still commend you for your idea and direction.

Tint the windows, lower, black out side markers and black out front emblem and I think it would look better. Too much red and seems a bit over the top. But if that is the look your going for then that's great. All that really matters is if you're happy with it. Everyone's preference is different.

You know, I was so undecided on whether I wanted the green or the white. My car before this was white and I loved it. It just never really looks dirty from afar lol. They have one in Mass. Yes, I actually just bought a stubby antenna and a shift knob so far. My plan for the first MAJOR mod is to definitely lower it. Then hoping to tint for sure, and exhaust. The wheels will probably come last due to the money obviously, but its in the plan! :)

I am worried that it will be to hard to drive with a lowerd car. Here the car has 16" as standard so I ges I stikk to the aloys that is on the car.

Looks good. I had a rare Mazda2 sighting today on the highway, a red one.
It looked nice too. They don't have any bad colors really. They all look pretty good.
I always describe mine as a go-kart too. That's just what it feels like.
Now I don't mind driving to places far away so much to hike or bike, because
the drive there is fun too.
I did miss my Jeep Liberty a little today though when I wanted to get up a rough forest road, but I
knew I was giving that up before I traded it in.
I'd rather just park & walk & drive the Mazda2 than go back to the boring liberty.

Hey all, just picked up my 2 a couple weeks ago. I also have a 2006 3 (which my wife is now driving, as she has a shorter commute than I do) so I spend a good amount of time over on ************, but I'll probably hang out here for all of my 2 info. Haven't done a ton to the car yet -- CX-7 stubby antenna, rear bumper guard -- but I have a Demio badge on the way and will be getting the windows tinted in a couple of weeks.
Here's a pic from the night I brought the car home:

Snapped a few pics after the first round of free mods :D If no one has done it yet, even if you just do it for S&G, unbolt the muffler. I did it expecting horrible weedwhacker noises but was PLEASANTLY surprised by a sound very familiar. Must be the combination of the cat and small OEM resonator, but the car sounds A LOT like my turbo 1.6 in the Miata. It's much much deeper sounding than I would have ever imagined. It's a little loud inside but it's not too bad!! (I stuck a muffler on but liked it better no muffler lol).
Short vid with straight through (one in, 2 out) muffler:

Anyways, onto the pics.
Recent mods:
-tinted the sidemarkers and rear reflectors
-blacked out mazda emblem on steering wheel (sun reflections drove me nuts!), front/rear emblems, removed the MAZDA 2 badging, will be ordering a DEMIO badge
-titanium muffler from an M3 with dual black tips (lost 7lbs here woohoo)

Beautiful! Are there holes behind the "Mazda 2" emblem, or is it just stuck on there?Thank you! There are 2 staggered holes with little plastic retainers :( I was so peeved when I discovered that. I don't know why they must drill holes, I think it'd be impossible for that emblem to fall off in the next 10 years with that crazy tape holding it on!!! The "2" has no holes FWIW.
Just uploaded the no muffler video. It sounds like an SRT-4 neon but slightly higher pitched as revs go up. I even got a few burbles and a nice POP cruising around a parking lot in way low rpms :)

As much as I disliked the red one in the showroom when I got mine, it's growing on me. I see a lady driving one everyday on my way to/from work. Besides the red I've seen one other white 2. Doesn't seem like there's too many around me! I've waved to the ones I saw.... Which resulted in no response or a funny look haha. Oh well.

The tinted side markers and rear reflectors look great, I've done the same with my 2. I know this is a shameless plug but there's a guy on the competing forums who sells the tinted reflector overlays for Mazda3's very cheap and is up for selling them for the Mazda2 as well if anyone is interested. I tried bringing this topic up a while back but nobody seemed interested, figured I'd ask again :)

FYI in looking at the bottom of our cars Im thinking we could be destroyed by salt. There's a ton of exposed metal and some of the paint that covers the underside is almost as thin as overspray. I may by a couple cans of of undercoating and go at it. Rear inner fenders will be the 1st to rust. As well made as this car is they cheaped out on the underside, and for us snow folks we have to take note.

lol just saddened when I see an upgrade to better wheels then see those dreadful tires go back on. ;-) Saturday when I was dropping off my son to my sister in laws house her town & country had those same tires (just a lot bigger) and that makes me feel sad for our 2s. Track tires\wheels come before changing the stock rubber for me though. However I doubt anyone would ever replace the stock tires with the same again so its all good.
Anyone know how these stock tires handle snow yet?
PS Helder im digging your tint.

trust me, we all know the stocks suck ass. The Kosei Wheels we got at a ridiculous price, $300 for 6 wheels, we were not looking to upgrade wheels and tires until next summer. because of the deal we through them on with stock tires, they arent the greatest tires but they do enough for daily driving that they are not going to just be wasted, they will be put back on the stocks for winter around the corner, then come spring there will be some Kumho XS tires on those wheels!
they arent snow tires but they are decent for snow.
$50 a wheel...yeah...thats pretty rediculous good job!

You might want to think about getting a set of JDM Demio headlights; the clear reflectors in them would look ultra clean on a CWP car.

Mazda offers the "little 2 logos" as an accessory that they call "skins". They are decals. I had them on my black M2 but had them taken off when I had some 3M film put on the front to protect against stone chips.

Pardon my ignorance on the topic... I know plenty about cars in general, but have never taken the time to really understand alignment terminology. What do you mean when you say "(with Camber)." Did you add the camber adjustment bolts or what?

Either that, or the suspension geometry results in added camber when the ride height is lowered - which camber bolts could help to correct if it is excessive.

I've never personally seen a set of the +25 k1s for sale, both my sets were +38. it could use a small spacer if I wanted it more flush, waiting to get an alignment tomorrow and we'll see. Going to try to run at least -1* up front. Didn't look like the back had any adjustment. The fronts didn't either but I slotted the upper strut bolt hole a little bit so I can add camber.

lol @ the music. How did you find the exact tune that's always in my head when I'm driving my 2?
I picked it at random. It came with the magix sound pool dvd. The file name is 'Flower Power'. Under a category 'background music, 70ies'. I tried to search for it in youtube, so far no luck. 'It somewhat rhimes with that tune 'I'm going to san francisco'. And it does not trigger 'youtube's copyright scanner yet. :)
Compared to our MAZDA5 and my daughter's MAZDA3, One thing I notice with this car, is it seems to 'disappear' when I'm driving it. The outside visibility is almost 360 interrupted only by a few pillars here and there.

RED doesn't deteriorate your night vision like other 'cooler' colors do. that's why most enthusiastic car makers use red or orange, the military also uses red illumination in jets, boats, and everything in between and quality flashlights and head lamps often have a red lens option

Edit: NEVERMIND! Just saw your post in the wheel thread :D
leon is the brand, thought the word kings was in it too, some european brand ive never heard of, they are old and beat up but they will do the job for autox...i paid 50 dollars for the tires and wheels then 25 to have them balanced....so 75 bucks (but will need to buy huncentric ring and wider deeper lugs(borrowed some stock scion tc lugnuts yesterday to make this work)

Those are cool shots fam! Does your local group usually run autox in mall parking lots? If so that's pretty cool. It would help people see what the sport is all about.
My wife and I are on a road trip currently. As of tonight we've gone about 1500 miles. We started in SoCal last Thursday and came up though Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Montana hitting up National Parks. We've seen Bryce Canyon, Yellowstone and tomorrow we visit Mt. Rushmore then start heading back via Colorado. My 2 has been giving us a good 36mpg average the whole trip. It's been a really comfortable mount too. Here is a shot my wife took this afternoon when we visited Devil's Tower, just outside of Sundance WY, where we are staying tonight.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a317/ChiliGMR/IMG_1783-1.jpg
I hope to get some more shots of my 2 during our adventures. I'm especially excited to take my 2 down the "Million-Dollar" highway in southwestern Colorado....
we usually run one event after nationals at a mall lot...the rest consist of airports and factory parking lots that are pretty large. You do get some spectators and curious people...but as workers you have to watch out to make sure they dont do anything stupid....im envious you get a california road trip...sounds fun...esp with no kids in the back lol.

lol thanks but im just an idiot with a dslr that was too lazy to leave his own driveway to take photos ;-) Hopefully I will find a nice area when my car is clean to get something worthwhile.
PS my autox skills consist of not killing anyone...and spinning it atleast once per event. I could already make a spin compilation video....come to think of it I never spun my 3 all the way around...I only spun it halfway at best.
