How to Change the Oil?

I have a CX-7 with a 4cylinder turbo and need to change the oil. Do i need to remove the the whole engine cover under the car? How do i access the drain plug and filter?

What do you recommend for oil type and weight?

How did you guys get the oil filter cover off? I can't seem to break it loose. I had to forgo the changing of the filter this time.
