Hi I am waiting to receive my 2010 GT and it occured to me how do you get into the car if the battery goes dead in the remote. The car has no normal keyhole for a jey to fit in the ignition?

Regards
Tony

For 2007-2009 models (I assume 2010 should be the same since 2010 is a mid-cycle refreshing only) there is a key hole on the door handle. For ignition, under the plastic cap, there is also a key hole to insert metal key.
Don't worry. Designer thought of that.
Besides, the battery is 2025CR (button Li-Ion battery, $2 each from RadioShack).
It does not hurt to store a couple in the glove compartment.
The battery should lasts about 3-4 years under normal use (2 yrs if used 10 times/day according to manual).

there's a manual key in the smart key.

there's a manual key in the smart key.

On the back will be a little release slide. Push it and pull the bottom silver cap out (that the ring attaches to) and that's the manual key.

So they don't use credit card type key fob in new 2010 CX-9?

Nope. MUCH nicer for 2010.

Apparently a lot more range, too.

The new remote looks nice.
How long is it?
By range, you meant the push-button range or SmartAccess range?

Push button

3 inches long, I guess. It fits nice in my pocket

I am not sure if we can replace the credit card type with this one?

I hope not. (no)
Otherwise, I will not be able to resist doing it.

I did an interesting experiment yesterday.
I put my cell phone (AT&T 3G) and the keycard together in my hand.
The SmartKey did not allow my access to open the doors.
I separated the two into two hands. It worked.
I got on the driver's seat and put both back together in the left hand.
I was able to start the engine.
Strange, eh?

It seems like the sensors in the doors are not as discriminating as the ones inside the cabin.
By discriminating, I mean the capability to tell two signals of similar frequencies apart.

In any case, try to separate your keycard from cell phone by at least 1 ft.

Interesting Ceric,

I also have found that if my key is behind a credit card in my back pocket, the doors will sometimes not open either when i press the buttons on the door.

That happened to me often, I had to put the phone and the smartkey in different pockets.
