Hello everyone, I am a newb to the mazda scene and am looking at buying a Mazdaspeed Protege tomorrow trading in my Ford SVT Contour. Now I am not a newb to the turbo 4 cylinders and have built a few dsm's. I currently own a 90 Mitsu Eclipse GSX with a Holset HX40 turbo with all supporting mods. Best time to date is an 11.95@116. I also have a 4g63 swapped 89 Dodge colt gt.
Anyways I thought I would introduce myself and let you know you will be seeing more of me. I am looking to build the motor on the msp and run a 57+mm inducer turbocharger and looking to run some 11's in the near future.
I have a few vidz on youtube of my 1g eclipse running 11's if anyone is interested in seeing them.

Welcome to the forums! Prepare for disappointment lol. 11's will probably cost more than youre paying for the car.

For 11's you will have to do a full on build of everthing lol.

yeah, the cost to make these a truely fast strait line car, make it not worth it to most... throw a turn or 2 in the track and you'll be a lot happier with your results. welcome!
to run 11s, your best bet would probably to 4G63 swap your MSP. oh god, the horror! haha

Thank you guys for the info. I checked out the quarter mile bragging rights looked down at the 11 sec spot and... blank haha it took me 6k to run 11's with my 1g and the bottom end is still stock.

Here is the car I am picking up. I have looked it over and drove it and talked with the last owner and turns out sls performance out of slc utah built the motor already. It has a cheap ebay turbo on it that has apparently never spooled and the car was never finished before it got repo'd haha. Great idea pay for a built motor and mods before you pay the payments.
Anyways check out the engine pic and notice the external wastegate is not dumped and also is clean on the inside (never hit full boost). Other than some small things and in dire need of getting the engine bay cleaned up its not a bad car.
Price posted is not the price I am going to pay. I will let you know what i get it for out the door.

Welcome! The car does not look too bad all in all. Couple dents, scuffs, etc but not unrepairable. I think all of us daily drivers can say we could give our MSPs a little TLC or love. Driving daily really takes a toll if you don't keep up on it.
