I just had my cars oil changed at my mazda dealership and i requested a full synthetic oil change and they did it then i got the invoice and didnt look at it til after i left and then realized it said they had put 5w20 synthetic oil in my car.. i called them back and they said they were 100% positive that they had put 5w30 synthetic in my car.. they asked the tech who serviced my car and he said he put 5w30 in.. i believe them but IF they had put 5w20 synthetic oil in my MS6 would it hurt?? or what would the effects of this be?? and how could i tell if they put one or the other in if its possible.

It happened to me a few days ago, I went right back and had it changed to 5w30 synthetic. I believe the regular 6 takes 5w20 so the guy got confused I guess. Good thing I noticed as soon as I pulled out of there. 5w20 is too thin for the seals on the MS6, some people even go up to 5w40.

Read this, lots of good information.

i might just go back and have them re-change it anyway.. the reciept says 5w20 on it.. so idn.. makes me real uneasy about those seals leaking oil.

That oil probably isn't going to hurt, especially since it is starting to get cold.

I would have them fix it if it was me, but I wouldn't worry about hurrying in.
