Before anyone says anything, yes I did use he search button. I came across a few topics on this, however I just have a few concerns. I need a reliable daily driver, thats sportyish, and has to be front wheel drive for the winter time (yes, the stock wheels are not that great, I'll just get steelies with new tires). Right now I drive a V8 and its about $65 to fill up alone, and I figured out that a month I'll be spending about a little over $400 on gas, which is ridiculous, not worth it.

My question to you guys is, can I depend on a MSP for an everyday car even though I'm buying one used? Like what are the common things, or should I say things to look for when buying an MSP?

Thanks

:) since you and i were already talking on this subject.. i bought mine specifically for a dd purpose. however, i thought i'd have a decent job to pay to fill up the car with premium each time. but i dont.

When i got the car, i went and eliminated a few things that were issues, WGA, fmic, main suspension issues.. etc.. so i wouldn't have to deal with it anymore. so as far as reliabilitys concern, most of the guys on this forum, DD this car. with great result.

I have owned my MSP since it had 35k miles, (currently at 92k) and I drive it every day. It has never left me on the side of the road despite all the modifications and autocrossing. I just stay on top of the maintenance and it has treated me very well.

Ditto. Had mine since 26K miles and I'm at 74K and no major problems despite it being my DD.

yea scary.. plus fixing it sucks.. u spend how much on it? just to fix a defect from the factory with no real power gains. bout the lamest part of the msp if u ask me

I bought mine when it had 24k on it...it's got over 98k on it now...have had it for almost five years. It has been (knock on wood) really reliable - just regular maintenance, some expected replacements (battery, struts, tires, brakes) and just a solid, safe daily driver. The woman I bought it from kept it in pristine condition and didn't abuse or modify it. In the next bit, we'll do the timing belt, water pump on it and I expect it to keep on ticking along just fine (again with the knocking on the wood!)....

Bought my car almost 2 years ago with 18,xxx miole on it, put almost 50,xxx miles on her within that time and never had a problem except the power steering pump. Cheap easy fix.
