View Full Version : 07 CX9 Sport Headlight trouble

I just purchased a very clean 07 cx9 and all seems to be going well except the headlights will not shutoff automatically. When I shut off the car get out and lock the doors the headlights should go off after about 30 seconds. They stay on...I have set in the car after shutting it off and removing the key..And after about 30 seconds there is a click (like a relay under the steering wheel) but the lights stay on...Any thoughts????

It should shut off. The relay is probably broken.
GT has auto-on, but all CX9s should have auto-off if I am correct.
Is it still under warranty? Bring it to the dealer.

Don't bother. The Sport does NOT have auto off headlights.

The owners manual clearly states that it does have auto off lights..So I am a little confused..If anyone else has an 07 sport cx9 or if anyone else can confirm that yours does not auto off please let me know.

I just checked the specs of 2010 CX9.
GT: HID auto on/off
Touring: auto-off
Sports: none
(assuming 2010 is the same as 2007 in this regard)

It seems that SportOwner is correct since he has a 2007 Sports model.
Manual could be wrong.

I always read the owners manual for every car front to back, and have seen this in pretty much every one.

The manuals are written far in advance of the release of the car, and often end up having incorrect information as models and trims are finalized prior to leaving the factory.

Fortunately, reaching up and twisting the headlight switch is a non issue.
Now if the manual said "3.5L 263HP V6' and under the hood was a homeless guy in a wheel, then I'd be upset.

What is your CX-9, Sport, Touring or GT?
Mine 07 CX-9 turns off headlight automatically.
The owners manual clearly states that it does have auto off lights..So I am a little confused..If anyone else has an 07 sport cx9 or if anyone else can confirm that yours does not auto off please let me know.

Sport has always been manual Headlights, and the Touring added auto off. I think they just forgot to put the '*Some Models' tag in the manual.

It looks like a mis-print manual. I'll check with the dealer.
