Ok, the other day I was rolling my window up and I heard a snap, then the window "crashed" all the way down. Grrrr. So I took the door panel off, and noticed that the cable that's in there was not connected to anything....and somehow I feel that is related (sarcastic). So my question is this, do I need to replace the entire window motor? I checked with Mazda, and the motor is about $145.00. Ugh...any cheaper way to fix this? Does the new motor include the new cable? I've never changed a window motor that has a cable involved....so is it a pain in the @ss?
I could really use any info that anyone is willing to give. Thanks!!

Usually the cable is not replaceable. Get a junkyard window motor.

I recently had a similar problem.
By what your saying, it sounds that your motor works but that the cable snapped?
If so, you would need only to replace the window actuator/rail module.

I may look similar to this one.
Mine had the busted corner rails where the cable runs along. They are notorious for breaking.
HEre is my broken one with the cable loose:

If I understand correctly, your motor is still good. so all you need to do is replace the rail/actuator.

Yeah, I can hear the motor still working, it's just the cable that snapped off. For some reason, it won't let me see the pictures on my work computer, so I'll have to check it out once I get home and on my personal PC.
So I'll need to call the dealer and tell them I need a new "rail/actuator"?
Thanks for all your help!!

Dealer price will rape you. Montgomery mazda can hook you up. The part should be 60-80 usd?
It should be called the window regulator and it does not come with the motor. By what you are describing, the regulator should do the trick.
