I was looking at Blizzaks in this size thinking that narrower is better for winter and for a lowered car. Not sure if the stock rims can handle that size, however. Will they mount OK?

As a Canuk(6 months of winter) I'd recommend going -1 size but keeping the width. I'm running 195/60r15 on separate steelies for the winter. The extra sidewall helps absorb some of the ice rut bounce. I don't know if the thinner tires would fit or not. Don't forget to get all 4 winter tires, the last thing you want is your front gripping while your rear slips and comes around on you.

I have 17" Racing Harts for summer , that's why I was going with the stock 16's for winter. Otherwise I'd do the steelies again.I work in a hospital so I MUST get to work no matter the weather. I've been doing the dedicated winter tire routine for years, would never be without them again. Tire Rack had a closeout deal on the 185/55-16 Blizzak LM-25' ,80.00 each. That's why I was hot for those...great deal!

They might just work. According to the tire calculator on miata.net it would throw your speedo off -1.4%.

I double checked tirerack to see if they listed the rim width range for that size but they don't. Also noticed that they only have two left?

Yup....waited too long and they are all gone. I'm tempted to try the Dunlop Graspic DS-3 @ 77.00 per tire. They are new and have no reviews, however. It's those or the Blizzak WS-60 for 109.00. Are the Blizzaks worth the extra $$ ? That's a big difference. I only used Pirelli Snowsports in the past ,but they aren't made in our size.
