Car was broken into, they tore up the center part of my interior where my head unit sits. I got as many things put back together but ever since I've had the following issues:

Air only blows on setting 4, air will only blow out of the floor and defrost vents no matter where the air direction dial is truned.

Another issue I've had since last year is that when my car is cold and I turn on the blower I hear a loud whine coming from the floor area of the passenger side dash, it goes away when I turn the blower off. I'm guessing it's some type of bearing associated with the blower... Anybody else had this problem?

Any help is greatly appreciated, trying to get the P5 back into shape!!! Thank you all!!

See this how-to for a possible fix on your fan issues... as far as the noise I would suspect the blow going out as well. The how-to isnt for yoru issue exactly but its for taking out the ac thign to disable the automatic defrost. If you look you will see pictures of cabels to check.

i actually have the opposite problem. my air will blow on 1-3, but 4 is basically just another 0... can't figure out why. it was like that when i bought the car in june. looks like someone broke in to the car previously (looks like they tried to pry the trim around the cd player with a screwdriver of something, got a few nice chunks in the dash right next to it). everything else works just fine though.

Ran full diagnostics today at the shop. Determined it's the EGR valve, will replace and update soon. Hopefully this solves the issue and gives some help to anybody else with these issues.
