Posted this in forced induction and just realized that it is probably far more appropriate here...not much going on in the other thread, it can be deleted if necessary to not post in two places at once.

[/end disclaimer]

The 2010 CorkSport Mazdaspeed3 Power Series Intake System (http://www.corksport.com/corksport-power-series-short-ram-intake-2010-mazdaspeed-3.html) has been added to our website for sale and will be shipping out next Tuesday, October 27th. This system retails for $239 and includes both a short ram intake and a mandrel bent turbo inlet pipe. It's an awesome value with high quality construction, billet black anodized MAF housing with stainless threaded inserts for a strong connection and cross-threading prevention. Includes our CorkSport filter utilizing AEM DryFlow synthetic media and an internal velocity stack as well as five layer reinforced silicone couplers.

Our 2010 CorkSport Power Series Racepipe (http://www.corksport.com/corksport-power-series-racepipe-2010-mazdaspeed-3.html) featuring stock outlet flange or 80mm outlet flange creates a massive boost in torque and a nice boost in horsepower as well. Simple install using factory hangers and flanges with an optional high flow catalytic converter. Ships Tuesday, Oct 27th (depending on configuration).

Finally, right around the corner we'll be releasing the 2010 CorkSport Power Series Downpipe featuring a divorced wastegate dump tube for best flow optimization and spooling charachteristics. Fully TIG welded T304 stainless steel with a monolithic turbo flange means excellent sealing and longevity. Gorgeous welds and polished piping gives your engine compartment a look commensurate with the level of performance you'll be hammering to the pavement. We're hoping to have these out in the next two weeks in production quantities.

The CorkSport Intake & Turbo Inlet Pipe crank out peak gain of 36 horsepower and 26 ft lb of torque at the wheels means a staggering bang for your buck. $6.63/whp.

http://cdn.cloudfiles.mosso.com/c54092/app9280931256069124.jpg

Add in the Racepipe and the wheel horsepower hits 269.58 for a gain of 42 horses. With the Downpipe, it jumps 10 more for 51 horsepower gain at 5400RPM and 293 ft lb of torque.

Want to go the high torque route? Run the 65mm exit racepipe alone with the Intake/Inlet pipe and break the 300 ft lb of torque mark with 32 ft lb of torque gained at 4100RPM. Hope you have a good relationship with your local tire shop. You're gonna need it.

And our Dual 3" CatBack Exhaust w/ 4" dual wall tips is coming along well too - but you'll have to wait a bit longer for that one.

Want a comprehensive high quality induction and exhaust system for your 2010 Speed 3 and don't want to lose your wallet? Talk to us. Have ideas for products that we're not working on yet? Tell us (http://www.corksport.com/product-ideas.html)!

Overall when the DP is released you can buy all three for $687 and make 51 extra horsepower at the wheels. Total package is $13/whp.

Gorgeous pieces AND first out of the gate with the performance goodies for the MS3. Once I get my engine management sorted out for my MSP (tis the season for crazy fuel cut), I believe I'll be investing in some Corksport goodness!

I'm so excited omg.... but come on $400 for lowering springs?

Jason@CorkSport
10-22-2009, 02:19 PM
Have you looked at the US Dollar to Yen exchange rate recently? The ones on our website right now are AutoExe and come directly from Japan. They're great springs, but the dollar is taking a beating right now. We'll have H&R springs and coilovers available in the future also.

JDM Downpipes and other fairly simple parts are like $1200 right now (dunno).

As for polishing the tips, until you get a different tune, it's gonna run pig rich and you're going to be driving the sootmobile. And yes, during stock baseline testing we did see quite a bit of pegged 10:1 AFR above 4500rpm at WOT. There's power hiding behind that cloud of fuel.

Mine has been on for a week now...I'm a big fan! I apologize for not having a chance to update my thread I created last week, but I've been super busy then sick so I havent been surfing the web as much. At any rate, anyone that's looking for nicely designed pieces, with great instructions (I mean GREAT), and some fantastic gains in spool characterstic, overall power and of course turbo noises - order this piece!! My test pipe will be here on Monday so I'm anxious to get that on as well!

You'll love the RacePipe. It not only performs awesome, it sounds pretty darned nice too. We've got the intake, downpipe, racepipe and motor mounts on our car and just fabbed up 5 chassis braces for it in the last few days. I took it out last night after the MazdasNW meet and flogged the crap out of it on the backroads and it's like a whole new car. Carves up the sweepers and hairpins like it never did before. (drive) Now the biggest issue in hammering around corners is keeping it in the powerband when you need to be...because it'll just keep gaining speed through anything you throw at it...and you have to shift sometime!!

I honestly think I sucked down two gallons of gas last night in 13 miles. Best six bucks I've spent in a long time...

We're still trying to figure out the best location for chassis bracing in the rear without sacrificing hatch space - and have some really awesome solutions on that...but it'll be a little while before we're ready to release the bracing. We'll be mixing and matching material choices and combinations of the four rear locations we've fabricated up to get our customers the best bang for the buck in the next few weeks.

How is the intake on turbulence? And what sort of IATs are seen vs stock in different scenarios?

Jason@CorkSport
11-12-2009, 05:29 PM
Turbulence? In what regard? There is going to be a natural amount of non laminar flow to the turbo inlet pipe just because of the fact that a compressor wheel is sucking the air. That being said, it's a smooth transition from the filter to the compressor wheel, and we've done computational fluid dynamics tests on the components (MAF, Filter, Couplers) individually as well as assembled and don't show any eddy currents or other flow anomalies.

I'd have to do some thermocouple datalogging to find the answer to the IAT question. I know it is substantially less than stock because the factory box heat soaks substantially which takes a while to cool off after the car gets to a decent speed (25-30mph). I have datalogs for the short rams on the MZ3 stock vs. CS Short Ram Intake and it takes the stock setup minutes to get to the lower temps that the Short Ram sees in seconds. Both intakes get to about the same point relative to ambient air temperatures, with the SRI getting just slightly lower temps (1-2 degrees). Now, that being said, you put our cold air box on the short ram (which is in development for the 2010 but has been sold for the 1G MS3 for COBB & CorkSport Intakes and MS6 w/ CorkSport Intakes and the temperature of the air going into the filter drops to within a degree or three of ambient air temps.

That answer your questions? If not, let me know...

DarkSpeed - Sorry I never got back to you about my installation. It took me a good few hours, with food and chillin' out breaks...but I didnt quantify the official time. It was also my first Mazda modification experience so I was taking my time to understand what was what under the hood. I'd venture to say it could be done fairly quickly now if I had to re-do it. Good luck with your install...I think you'll be pleased with the results!

Derrick I dont have the sheets handy to get the specifics, but there were a few inaccuracies for sure and some sections were very vague while others were satisfyingly detailed. A couple of mistake though in the instructions. I'll get the sheets out of the garage tomorrow and let u know. I know in one of the steps it mentioned "as labeled/marked in diagram X" and that particular diagram had no marking for the said area. What would be very helpful to a lot of people is bigger, more clear pictures in the instructions.

I wouldnt have put 45-90 min install time either. I dont know anyone (who doing it for the first time) that could pull that off in 45 mins.

i can only pray you are kidding.

Its a repetitive sound that does tend to get on my nerves after so long driving. We all have our own opinions, Its cool, just sometimes Im not in the mood for the extra noise, thats all. I can always lay off the turbo to keep the volume down some. No big deal. Im glad I didnt get a BOV, thats all I can say. The car would sound like birds chirping in the middle of a tornado LMAO (rockon)(rockon)

DarkSpeed,

Glad you're giving good feedback on the instructions, just drop me an email at griffith@corksport.com with your comments and I'll remedy them immediately. Now I'm looking back through the instructions to see where the missing details in the figure were!! ;-)

As for the 45-90 minutes, you have a good point here. I'll update that as well. I think 1-2 hours makes more sense.

We also had some gaps in the video content links, which I've updated on our YouTube host today and we'll be updating that on our webpage shortly as well. All good things that should have been done earlier.

It's hard for us on the level of detail to provide as we've had people tell us that the instructions were overly verbose while others want more detail in areas. That's one of the reasons why we have worked on the simplified checklist as an addition to the full instructions that provide further information to people who haven't had the opportunity to work on some of the specific details of any given installation. It's a tough rope to walk - on one hand overly detailed instructions get thrown out by people who have done this type of install a number of times (and then there's the risk of missing a critical step) vs. not giving enough information in areas and leaving people stranded...

We're working on these formats, instructions and dialing in the best way to give everyone the level of information they need to produce the same great results independent of their level of experience.

Again, seriously, if you have time, drop me an email so we can chat about the areas you'd like to see improved. It means a lot to us to constantly improve our methods and content for future customers.

Thanks again,

Jason
