View Full Version : Dr.ColorChip?

Any of you guys or gals used this product? I have some hood dings that I'd like to fix. It looked like this was pretty easy to use and if it covers well, it may be worth the $40 bucks.
I know someone's tried it, so chime in and let me know how it works. Thanks.

wow.. i have a couple random chips that are rather large in weird spots on my car.. i've been wanting to get them fixed.. maybe this will do the trick if someone else whose used the product could chime in?

used it and it works really well....not for use on big chips....mine came out a bit darker on the large chip i had.....but all in all it worked great

That sounds promising. I have the black mica, so it will be black on black. It should look better than chips.

Hmmm...I bought a bottle of the OEM touch-up paint and use a toothpick to touch up chips. It's worked well for me. Call me cheap I guess :)

I wouldn't call you cheap. If it works and looks good, maybe that's a better option.
Were you able to smooth it down so it's hardly noticeable?

I try to dab just enough paint on the toothpick so it doesn't glob. So there's no smoothing process. This kit certainly looks more thorough and complete if you want a seamless look, but my ghetto method is good enough for me :)

I used to use Langka (http://www.langka.com/) until my stash was gone...and I had good results with that.

if you're really ocd you can smash the tip of the toothpick up against a brick wall and makes the end of toothpick a really small paintbrush the way it fans out...

or since the touch up comes with a brush you could just......use....the paintbrush...

yea for the typical small rock chip its way too big. i agree with the toothpick. minimal paint and layers to build it up to the level of the original

I also use toothpick and Langka. Have been using this combo for years. I've shown my other car in concours events and have touched up some very large door dings, scratches and chips using this method. Results are invisible unless you're up close and really take your time to find them. Takes some time and patience.

I have a clear bra on the MS3 so it doesn't need the regular touch up...knock on wood!
