Do me a favor and measure the height at the fender, straight through the middle of the wheel front and back. I want to see how mine compares.

25 1/4 front
25 1/2 rear

Even though the front is lower height wise the rear has a slightly smaller gap. Optimally I could bring the front down another 1/2 inch and leave the rear as is. If I remove the lock ring on the front I could acheive it but something prevented the shock from turning before it even hit anyway.

I did not remove the rear lock ring but both front and rear are adjusted as far as they would go. Also please include your tire sizes and if possible a straight side on shot of the car.

Madvillian I expect you to be in here ASAP.

I am rocking 215/45 on 18x8 +40 wheels.

And I'm guessing when madvillian's had his Rota's with 245/35's, he was around 24.25-24.50" fender height.

REPORTING FOR DUTY!

sorry, just saw this. im living a few hours away from my car right now, so i cannot get any measurements for you.

my car is as low as strick's in those pictures, i too have one of the rings removed in the rear. i wish it would go lower in the rear, because they definitely dont go as low as the fronts.

here are some pictures for reference, even though you've seen them. 225/45's on the front, stock 215/45 on back..

I have BC's and have no problems with rubbing on all sorts of setups. 225/45/18 +52.5
225/45/17 +48
215/45/18 +45

They all fit just fine. I even want to go to a 245 next time!

I don't rub either, even with 3 passengers in the back.

just went out and checked mine.

Front: 23 3/4
Rear: 24

took one perch off of the front and the rear.

and im about to go lower and stiffer (hopefully).
ive been talking to a local bc vendor about a stiffer shorter spring. he called bc and he said they had stiffer but the guy that we needed to talk to about shorter springs was out to lunch. so tomorrow my vendor will be calling back to see if they have a shorter spring. if so then im definitely going even lower!

im on 17's with a 40 series tire so that contributes to how low i am. i scrape frame lolz.

Damn, I was going to say. If you got in the 23" range, you aren't on 18's. Haha.

noice. i would be interested in some shorter springs for the rear to make it lower. i want the back to be tucked.

Get your 18x9's again and be tucked. Haha.

madvillian
10-20-2009, 11:40 PM
haha i do miss them. but im actually really loving the look of the car right now, i think it looks much classier with the stock wheels with the addition of the spacers. i just wish the back was 1/2"-3/4" lower to tuck them more under the ghetto'd flared fenders haha.

CnoTataymo
10-20-2009, 11:44 PM
Shoot, only if the stock MS3 wheels were at least 18x8.5 like the STI and Evo X's.

needz moar lowww. and i might add a spacer up front.

lol o yea and i added a 10mm spacer in the rear.

so effective offset is

17x8 25 offset all the way around.

jesus man, that car is loooow to the ground. what are the specs on the tires again? looks super good though, but i dont know if you want to go any lower unless you want a driveway to rape your oil pan. on the other hand, there needs to be less wheel ghaaaap

sumthaiguy
10-21-2009, 01:52 AM
the tires are 205/40/17. but someone local is willing to trade my tires for his (2) 215/45/17 and (2) 225/45/17. i might take the 215's but im not too sure on the 225's. lol i know its not as much stretch as my 205's so i dont know if ill like it. but im going to be checking them out tomorrow so we'll see

lol what i was thinking is that i up the tire size so itll raise the car a little. then putting on the new springs will lower it back to where its at right now lol. some crappy logic but iono we shall see. but either way ill have less wheel gap.

haha but deep inside, i really want to lower the whole body of the car a little more. maybe into like the 22-23 inch range?

CnoTataymo
10-21-2009, 02:52 AM
Wow, your ride is pretty damn low. You must still have a 1-2 finger gap with those tire sizes.

sumthaiguy
10-21-2009, 02:55 AM
yup all around is a tight 2 finger gap which i HATE!!! lol. but might be getting some taller tires soon. so thats going to be fixed.

CnoTataymo
10-21-2009, 02:59 AM
And you must have way shorter gearing too.

Yeah, when you bump the tires up to the tires you'll be getting, less stretch but more meat on the tires for sure. How much camber are you running in the front and rears?

madvillian
10-21-2009, 04:21 AM
haha up front i cannot even fit one finger past the fingernail into my fender. that wheel gap has got to go, the other tires will make a huge difference. the only reason id ever switch to 17's would be some nice wide rpf1's with some chubby ass tires on them, none of then skinny crap.

CnoTataymo
10-21-2009, 12:23 PM
RPF's like this?

http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn269/smootnaman/Cars/EnkeiRPF117x9235-45-1.jpg

17x9 +45 235/45 tire.

madvillian, you want a set of brand new gold RPF's in 17x9 +45 for $850? let me know. My friend is trying to get rid of them.

25" fender height all around

225/40 Kumho SPT's

All collars on lowered all the way down

Camber -2 front/-2.4 rear

do you have the front camber plates on? did you adjust the rear? or is that the camber you get when you drop it all the way down on BC's with all collars still on? hows the wear on the tires?

I'm not sure about him but my camber was always uneven before the SPC links. My driver's side was at -3.1 and the passenger at -2.8 before the links with both collars in but all the way down.

Yes, I have front camber plates. As for the rears, it's still stock with the BC's all the way down with collars on so that's the camber I got after my alignment. The tire wear is okay, pretty much even with my 3500 mile tire rotation and always hitting corners hard when I can. My toe is basically 0 so it's helping.

can everyone post their stiffness settings?? I put mine all the way soft (to the left), and then went 15 clicks to the right for the rear, and 12 to the right on the fronts. i am running rota svn's 18x8.5" with 235/40/18 tires, 2-1/2 threads showing in front, rear as low as it can go, rides great, one finger gap all around, has real nice perfectly even stance, atleast IMO. I will measure and get pics soon.

CnoTataymo

I run 8 front/9 rear clicks from the softest.

Wastegate13
10-22-2009, 06:54 AM
I set my rears at 15 and the fronts at 10 from soft when I installed my coilovers. I've never had a reason to change it.

ive been talking to a vendor about shorter springs so we could go lower buttt....

eh bad news.just talked to the vendor who talked to BC and they said that they do not manufacture any shorter springs. they said that BC isnt really geared towards the slammed, hellaflush, dumpt look but really made for tracking, racing, auto-x, etc. so i might be looking into another coilover =(

Maybe they do this cause slamming your ride just looks silly. I mean how many times have you seen the fast and furious?

CnoTataymo

There are no slammed cars in the F&F. In Toyko Drift, none of those were really slammed either.

lol what the hell does fast and the furious have to do with this?

what im trying to do with my car is a style. its called stance/hellaflush. low widths/offset and low cars. you laugh at my ride height, i laugh at your non-flush wheels, wheel gap and non-aggressive stance.

lol its okei mr. functionality, i didnt expect people like you to understand this kind of style anyways. ill excuse your ignorance... this time.

I only lowered my car all the way because I don't track or auto'x. It's just my DD. Other then that, people have different objectives for their MS3, looks or track. Everyone will have their own opinion. But when I get wider wheels, I'll raise my car a little and try to corner weight it to change the handling.

sumthaiguy, your wheels are really just flush from your pictures and you still have wheel gap. You need wider wheels and more tire stretch to be hellaflush. But you're getting there.

yea i know im not hellaflush. i still havent reached my goals yet. but im not far away. and i know i still i have wheel gap (it looks horrible and i HATE it XD). that should change a little once i change tire sizes which will be this upcoming week. and ive been looking into coilover options to slam the car more but have come up empty. and as for wheel width, im stuck with these wheels until at least next summer when i can raise some funds for some wider wheels. til then im just going to tweak with the suspension/wheel/tire setup to keep myself amused.

all in all. my car is still a work in progress. all problems will be addressed in due time.

From what I know, H&R coilovers lower the MS3 the most. But there is no front camber adjustments or dampening and you have to reuse to the stock top hats.

whats the offset on those bro? Looks great.

I have 18x8.5" +48 rota svn's with 235/40 tires and i have my rear with lock collar still in, low as it will go, and front about 2-1/2 threads showing. I am ordering some wheel spacers, but I don't know if I should do 5mm or 10mm, kinda worried about rubbing in the rear, eventho I have rear fenders rolled. Anyone know if I will rub on 10 mm bumping it to +38? I am wanting more flushness.
