Hello All
Just purchased a 2010 Copper Red GT CX9. Looking forward to getting to know everyone. Let me know if you have any questions and I will do my best to answer. Me and my wife both thought the car looked much better in person than in pictures...(dont mind the smiley face).
It is my wife's car, but I really look forward to driving it. One small thing that I like about it is that the cx9 now has RDS so you can see artist and station info.

Welcome to the forums. Looks good!
Looks good. I went with an '09 last month to take advantage of incentives but some of the improvements for '10 are nice. How is the access to the center console on this model? The center console for '07-09 is a major fail and it's nearly impossible for a driver to access it with the right arm because it is hinged too far forward. Looks like the new one opens differently. Is it easier to get into? Is it any bigger inside?
(Like the rear tail lights. You can see Mazda trying to incorporate the Nagare design language. So far, the only Nagare design element they have spread throughout the line is the smiley face which is imho the least successful element.)

Console is easy to access. There is probably not any additional room in it compared to 09, but dont specifically remember the depth of console from my 09 test drives.

Congrats!
You must be the 1st on this forum to have a 2010.
Well if the console cover is less obtrusive that's a big improvement. The size of the console is a little disappointing particularly given the cavernous space in the CX-7's which they say will fit a laptop and that's no exaggeration. The dealer told me that the CX-9's console is compromised by the space required for the rear seat climate control which, if true, would be the only accurate and useful information I received from a dealer throughout the entire car search/buying experience.

Welcome! I'm also new here.
I have a 2009 model GT but love your tail lights!

It also looks like a new bezel around the shifter. How's the build quality on it. I can slide the bezel on my '09 about 1/8" in all four directions. Not such an impressive example of fit and finish.

rdj,
Welcome to the forum.
How is the quality of the leather? Do you remember the interior of the 2009 GT and what it was like as compared to the 2010?
Finally, have your tried putting your sunglasses in the overhead sg-compartment? None of my sunglasses will fit? what was/is your experience?
Enjoy your new car,
tstes

sjg, the bezel does move a little bit
tstex, the leather seems very nice. I think it is a little softer than the previous models, but it could be in my head because the press release stated:
■Smooth leather and subtle stitching on seating surfaces offer a more quality-feel (standard on Touring and Grand Touring models)
Whether or not I am imagining it, I am very happy with the seating and it is very comfortable.
The sunglass holder has not been improved. Our sunglasses would not fit.
Looking forward to taking it on a trip. Looking into aftermarket DVD, weather mats, etc. I dont know if I will get the roof rails yet. Need to get 1/8" plug in for iPhone, but in the mean time BT-Audio sounds fine.

Radio Data System?
rdg2010cx9
10-12-2009, 06:23 PM
Yeah radio data system. Displays artist and song info from FM stations. A lot of brands have this. It is a little thing, but something I really wanted. Im used to it on my car.
Traffic/Satellite free for 6 months.
It is single CD. I honestly wasnt sure. Maybe with Nav it has to be single? We would use ipod anyway. There is a non nav package that comes with 6cd and a 4.3" LCD. It looks great, but my wife had Nav in her 04 acura mdx and she wanted it again. Im fine with the choice.

I wonder why Mazda did away with the 6-disk CD-changer when you order the GT Assist Package? My '08 has the GT Assist Package, and I have the 6-disk CD-changer.

Its not called the GT assist package anymore. Just Nav package. The power liftgate is a seperate option as well. Mine came with Moonroof/Bose, Power Liftgate, Tow Prep, and Navigation.
I dont know how much the sat/traffic will be later. I think the trick is to let it expire and then they send you a very discounted rate to continue. That is what happened with my g35 and xm.

Same goes for 2009 models. The NAVI unit was moved from the trunk to center console (behind the display). The same space is occupied by the 6-cd changer. Therefore, they can't co-exist. I guess this just got carried on to 2010 model.

Cool, so the PLG is not a requirement. I would prefer the retractable cargo cover.

Strange that you can't build a 2010 CX-9 at MazdaUSA.Com or Edmunds.Com yet.

I had the same problem with my 2009 Mazda cx9. Went to the dealers and they fixed it. Apparently, the bezel clips got loose. The bezel shouldn't move at all. Anyhow, maybe you should have it checked out.

Anyone know if the dimensions for the storage area have changed for 2010? If not, replacing the 09 (and prior) console door to the new "bomb bay" door style may be an easy swap.

It's a totally differnet part from the 07-09 console. The shape and size of the bin is different, and the lid workes completely different.
You may be able to replace the entire console, using your existing back end panel for the Zone 3 HVAC controls. Not sure of the new shift gate will fit the old CX9, though.

Picked up my 2010 CX-9 GT AWD/NAV Remote Starter and New Key Fob on Saturday. Black on Black.
I will be adding the Overhead DVD and IPOD adapter next week and will post pics when done.
Love the car. Waited for the 2010. I was considering the MDX, but the 2010 leather is awesome and the car just feels sportier.
More later but here are a few pics.

I agree the leather on the CX9 is VERY nice. I was hesitant to get leather before because we preferred the black interior (too hot), and my earlier experiences with leather seats was with American makes, which was just plain lousy.
I love the two tone, which makes the seats mush more stylish that all one color, too.
The CX9 is still the best car for the money. Even a comparably trimmed Murano costs more. (jeers to Nissan)

I am also looking at the 2010 CX-9 and would like to know how much did you pay for it (Purchase price without taxes)? Also which dealer you bought it from?
Thanks,

I liked that you don't have to get the nav to have a backup screen and information display.
I liked that you don't have to get the nav to have a backup screen and information display. Still don't trust nav systems accuracy.
The Touring is VERY nice
I'm not sure I understand this. There's at least one thing I can think of that is worse about the nav than accuracy, one of which is that it isn't as intuitive as my Garmin. However, I have never had an issue with the accuracy of the nav. It's always been spot on for us.
One comment about avoiding black leather due to it getting hot...we were hesitant about this at first, but it turned out to be a non-issue. The A/C in the CX9 cools everything down pretty quick, so we had no problem with it this summer.
Either way, I do like the interior improvement in the 2010 over the 2009.

I didn't really like the black leather in general, either. Too dark. Now we have the Sand leather because the black interior got kind of old after a while.
I can't comment on the CX9 nav, but have seen many complaints here, and about nav in general. My own experience with other forms of nav has not been good. They always seemed to get me lost the one time I need a little help finding something. I think it's mostly the fault of inaccurate map data.
Anyway, we don't need or use nav enough, and nothing the Grand Touring adds was appealing to us anyway. The Touring is super nice.
Mazda did a good job addressing complaints and making real improvements, rather than changing things for the sake of changing them.

i bought it from Napleton's in Schuamburg. I paid $37,200. Not sure if that is a great deal. felt it was good enough for me. Actually, Chris Napleton (son of Owner Napleton) is the General Sales Manager there and was very easy to work with. Not greasy!

Not bad for a just released and refreshed model. I'd say you did okay.
MSRP on your GT is $39,465, 'invoice' is $36243, which is not what the dealer paid, of course.
Edmunds TMV is $38,651, which is supposed to be the market average for what people actually pay.
Since 'Invoice' is not what dealers really pay, I always start with that number, rounded up to the nearest $500, and KBB for trade value.
We paid $34,500 for our Touring AWD MSRP was $36,452, Invoice was $33,503, and the TMV was $35,722. $1000 over 'invoice, just like mazdude17

I've actually figured out how to use the NAV here recently. It's taken me about 8 months, because of how ridiculously counter-intuitive it is, but once you figure it out it's not horribly difficult to use.

Sounds like my deal a year ago was a good one. $30,000K for a 2008 GT AWD w/ Nav and BSM.... $10,000 off msrp. I would like the improved nav and trip computer though.....

Hello,
I see you are from Atlanta. I am on the south side of the city in Newnan and shopping hard for a CX-9 in the city. What dealer did you decide to purchase yours at? I haven't lived here long so I am a little lost on a good Mazda dealer.
Thank you for any info you can give me.
