Nicole, can you post of a picture of the Foss car? We saw a artist rendition that your dad had on the computer, the new livery looks really good! Also great pick up with Chip, he has always been very fast @ Mazda Raceway!

Looks good! Too bad about the happy face, but the new livery and aero tweaks look great! I'll miss the blue, but I'll get over it.
I'm really glad you got a 2010 done in time for the last race, and I hope the 2.5L motor and smaller car lets you guys be more competitive with the Red Line outfit. Looking forward to the series results, and can't wait to watch the highlights on Speed in a couple of weeks!
Foss can really drive, and you'll surely get a lot of useful data for next year no matter what happens.
Good luck on Sunday!

got a question, is there a particular reason you picked the sedan and not the hatch?

I could be wrong but isn't the sedan lighter? I think that also goes for the previous style 3 as well. I was always upset that that they never released a Mazdaspeed3 sedan. Atleast Tri-point made it easier to make your own with there turbo kit.

That is wicked! I can't wait to see that race! And for the record, I actually like the "smiley face," especially on that race car.

2nd place in the marque championship by only what, 5 points, is pretty darn good! Looking forward to next season! The new car shows real potential.

In production trim, yes. But there's so little left of the production car in this class that I doubt it's much of a difference. I mean look how close they've always been to the Acura's even with a bigger body and floor pan.
I think the main advantage of the sedan is aerodynamics, you can get more downforce from the rear wing with less of a drag penalty.

(rockon) Awesome...Big Thanks for the heads up, Nicole!
It's an honor to be represented on the next generation of Tri-Point Mazda Race Cars...I'm super excited to see how the new 3 lineup will perform...I'm sure we'll be seeing plenty of headlines about the Tri-Point Mazda 3z kickin' butt on the track as all Tri-Point Mazdas have done in the past!
Lookin' forward to some clear shots of the new Tri-Point 3z in action representing Mazdas247.com! (drive)

This is my first post here and I wanna say that seeing the new Tri-Point machine this past weekend at Laguna Seca was nothing short of awesome. I've been attending the event for the past 5 years and always get excited when the Tri-Point team take the track.
As a potential buyer of a new Mazda 3, seeing the car in SPEED World Challenge Touring form has tipped the odds in it's favor to end up in my garage. I hope to see more 3's taking the track next year!

I saw it in person on Thursday, it really does look good. The production cars look reallly silly, IMO, but they turned the happy face into kick your ass face!
I can't speak for the team, but all I see is potential with the new cars. They're smaller and have bigger engines. They also have some outstanding drivers.
Losing the Championship in the last race was painful for sure, I really feel bad for them because they're so good and deserved to win it, but it's a whole new ball game next season.
I just want them to beat those pesky Acura's! SWC is pretty good at equalizing cars, but it looks to me like Tri-Point is on the right path with the bigger motor and (presumably) lighter cars next season.
I personally think they got a raw deal this season, but to make it so close anyway, taken to the last race, is a real testament to the high quality of the whole team. That's a real accomplishment they should be proud of!

I have a question, the mazda 6's you guys have, did you guys use the mazdaspeed 6 platform or the mazda 6? By which i mean FWD or AWD?
I'm guessing this mazda3 is FWD?
nicole@Tri-Point
12-11-2009, 05:23 PM
Both the Mazda6 and Mazda3 are FWD

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there were only a couple of efforts from AWD cars with the TC class last season, and they didn't do very well.
The only real threat to Tri-Point and Realtime were the Bimmerworld cars. But in the end, it was a FWD car that won the championship. Unfortunately, it wasn't a Tri-Point Mazda though.
BTW, Mazda had the Tri-Point car on display at the LA Auto Show, last week. My guess is that Mazda is pretty proud of what Tri-Point is doing, and rightfully so, IMO. Even my wife thought the race car looked way better than it's showroom counterpoint...which didn't get much interest from the crowd, from what I could see. But their race car sure did!
Hey Nicole, are the new rules going to affect your new cars next season?
