Like an idiotI replaced the battery before going to get my emmisions test done, ( IL only uses the OBD2 port) and of course the sensors were not ready so the car was rejected. I drove it around another 5 days and went back in and all but there were ready. EGR, o2 sensor and cat sensor all said not ready. The 3rd time is your last chance, so is there a way to check to make sure the sensors are ready? I called the test center and they told me I have to go to a shop and have them set my sensors??? WTF I was handed a booklet by them listing all the repair shops in the state. I think it's a fucking money making scam from the state. I shouldn't have to take my car to some BS shop. The tech even told me that the shop mechanics are trained to drive my car a certain way to set my sensors right...WTF???
Anyone know how long it takes for the MSP to go through all the sensors in a drive cycle, or how I can "set" the sensors to get this shit done.
Il requires you to pass emmisions before you can get a plate sticker renewed and my plates expired in Sept.

Edit #2: I am seeing everying from 10-100 drive cycles to 50-300 miles need to be driven to get everything in ready status!

Thanks for the info.
I'll just take her for another long ride tonight, and drive it for a few more days then take it back.
I keep trying to hide the rear plate from cops so I don't get a ticket
