I would like to use http://nokyausa.com/hy/hy7610.htm in place of the OEM fog light bulbs. The original Mazda bulb for the fog is the 9006 rated at 51W. The Nokyas are the 9006 rated at 70W. Will this cause issues like melting wires etc?
With HIDs, they overpower the fogs. The OSRAM sylvania bulb guide website shows that the bulbs are rated at 55W. How does Mazda use a bulb that's rated at 51W?

I wouldn't replace anything on a modern car with a higher electrical load. Typically, each circuit is only rated for the load prescribed by the factory installed components. You could not only melt wire, but damage the control systems.
Mazda might use a 51w in a 55w rated location to increase the life of the bulb. Fogs are intended to emit low non-reflective light in fog to enhance the low beams while avoiding reflecting back more light into the drivers eyes.
They are a safety supplement, not a 'look how cool I look with my fog lights on" accessory. That's why they seem dim.

I only use my fogs when it's foggy out and from my experience, the HIDs overpower the fogs and I cannot clearly see the wide beam pattern of the fog beam. My intention is to make it more amber so that it's more visible to me for safety reasons. Not for the cool factor. Searching on the internet has shown the Nokya's hyper yellow bulbs to be quite cost effective. I'm concerned about the watt ratings since it does seem to be higher than the OEM specifications.
