I've been getting this loud screeching noise coming from the engine every few times I start the car. I just changed my belts. What the hell could it be?

what belts did u get changed? and if because they were just changed they are usually put on a bit looser because the belts will stretch just go back and get them tighted up a bit thats all i had the same problem.

I changed the 2 belts. I have them tightened pretty tight. so i should loosen them?

you shouldn't work on a car if you don't know what you're doing.. they should deflect about an inch when properly tightened.

what do you mean deflect about an inch? the belts should be put on tight but not loose

push on the belt in the middle of the 2 pulleys. it should move about an inch with moderate pressure.

I've been getting a screech lately too on cold start ups. It's not the engine, it only makes the noise when I roll. I personally think its the brakes, cuz when I get on the brakes and they warm up and get the pad to rotor contact going it goes away, usually after one step on the pedal.
