I really wanted to bring something new to the table as far as our headlights go cause I really didn't like all the chrome and amber in our head lights so I decided to do some painting. I also installed TRS lenses while I was in there. I will take better pics later including night shots I hope you guys like it. What do you guys think.

Pretty cool, how difficult was the process?

It isn't really all that difficult.... it's just very time consuming. You just have to follow a headlight disassambly how-to. The rest is spray painting. You don't sand or prime anything and the painting is very foregiving....especially the translucant yellow spraypaint. It covers the chrome pieces very well and evenally. Just don't over spray and get drips, nice light coats. If there are enough people interested I`ll do an indepth how-to with parts, materials, and process.

I`ll take a lot more pics tomarrow after I wash the car, including night shots. The yellow looks very noticable, really clean and crisp, you`ll see tomarrow.

Yes it is. I actually used the foglight I broke (I broke it trying to pry it apart.... baking them for 15mins at 200 degrees dosent do anything to the glue so don't try!!!). The foglight cracked right around the outside edge, so I used a yellow overlay to tint it for now until I figure out a way to take the foglights apart. (I'm hoping the overlay keeps the foglight sealed so no moisture gets in). But eventually I want to get in there and spray the foglight to match the headlight.

I haven't seen it in spray but they do make something.... check here

and don't laugh at the site, it took me weeks to find a website that carried what I was looking for. I recommend buying what you think may work and then using it on a mirror to see if that is the desired effect, this stuff is not that expensize so experiment... thats what I did. Searching stained glass stuff worked for me. Hope that helps.

Are there laws against tinting your heads/fogs?

I`m sure there are but they aren't tinted... I painted the inside reflective parts with a legal color... yellow!

I have to figure out how to take night time pics, cause they turned out terrible. I'll try to mess with the settings and get some better ones up. Here is some for now. This pics just wont cut it, they don't do the over look justice. SERIOUSLY!!

those kind of pictures can be extremely hard to pull off. if your camera allows it, just bracket your pictures. you might end up taking 100 pics but one of them is bound to turn out nicely

are the fogs overlays and that tint stuff, or just overlays?
if the tint stuff, how do you get the fogs open to tint the mirror?

no offense but the yellow makes the light look kinda aged.

Looks good! Its subtle but sets off nicely with black mica...
I like the yellow overlays on the headlights too... I did that to my '02 Si when I had it!

I didn't want to go with the overlays cause I didn't want the whole headlight yellow, just some parts. I think it would look sick on your car too!!
SBSPEED3:
The fogs are just overlays.... I tried taking the foglight apart to spray it by heating it in the oven like you would do to a headlight but I ended up cracking the side of the foglight when I pried in between the glass and the housing. I don't think you can get the foglight apart.

Thanks man, that's what is going for is subtle but still noticable and tasteful.

thats what i thought. i wish there was a way to open up the fogs. i hate that shield that blocks out most of the light. ive heard of people bending that shield with some needlenose pliers and then pulling it out through the bulb hole. i am afraid of scratching the reflective finish off the inside of the light tho.

I wouldn't recommend it... That reflective coating is very delicate and scratches very easily.
I did find a how to somewhere but you basically need another set of foglights.... you destroy the lens on one set to get the housing open then you destroy the housing on the other to get the lens and then you use the the good lenses from the on set with the good housings from the other.
Kind of silly I think!!
