steering wheel locked

my key won't turn in my ignition. the steering seems to be locked. tried turning the wheel with the key in and nothing happens. can someone please tell me what the problems is and is there a way to get this fixed without having to pay an arm and a leg. i have no remote or extra key. please help me.

Can you move the steering wheel at all? Sometimes when it locks it has tension on it and all you have to do is turn it a bit and then turn the key and start the car. It will then unlock. Sometimes it's REALLY hard to turn the key though so you have to force it a bit. Be careful not to force it too much and break the key however.

wheel doesn't turn at all. almost broke the key trying to turn it.

Mine unlocks if I push the brake in all the way. At least that's what got it to work last time..

did you shake the steering wheel left and right as you tried to turn the key?

tried that too. didnt work.

yep. tried pressing on the brake and everything still nothing.

why don't you jack the front of the car up and try again?

Put the key in and turn the wheel wiggling it, it happens to me from time to time because of the way I park. Sometimes if I have a friends car at my house I have to leave my car outside so I turn the wheel toward the curb and pull up the e-brake.
