What stock Mazda wheels will work.

I want to get some different wheels (maybe a snow package) and was wondering what Mazda wheels will work on the 5. I have seen pics of RX8 wheels but Im looking for 16 or 17 inch. I dont want to go aftermarket and I hoped the 3 or the 6 used the same spec for the bolt pattern/offset. Any help appreciated.

Pretty much any wheel they have put on any car with the 5-lug pattern since around 1997.

I just went through this in great detail.. You can pretty much get any 16" Mazda wheel from 1997-Forward. Check the bolt pattern and off set to make sure its close. From what I can tell, you can use any Mazda3, 5, Milleniea (I got a set of these to be different), 6, Ford Escape).

Actually aftermarket wheels are cheaper. I want OEM because in my experience aftermarket wheels dont fare well on Chicago potholes. I have never damaged an OEM wheel but have wrecked many aftermarket wheels. Besides, Mazda makes some very nice stock wheels.

OEM are usually more expensive retail, but FAR cheaper used.

Does Acura / Honda 16" OEM wheel will fit to Mazda5? I think they have same bolt pattern (5 x 114.3). Would their be any problem using this wheels?

offset will likely be wrong, and centerbore is likely different. can't give specifics without knowing what wheel for what vehicle. that said, it may bolt up, and COULD work...

Acura RSX wheels do have a different centerbore because I've tried the ones from our RSX and they don't fit.

I just bought 4 Mazdaspeed6 wheels with tires for $200. Wheels are in really good shape and the tires have about 1/2 tread left.

Honda/Acura OEM wheels use a different lug nut seating method than everyone else. 99% of everone uses acorn nuts (45 degree angle from the perpendicular) while Honda uses round-seat lug nuts. They are ROUND, not a straight 45 degree angle, and so Honda OEM wheels must use Honda OEM round-seat lug nuts or proper contact is not made, meaning wheels could be flying off at a moment's notice at worst, or ruining the wheels at the seat at least. Offset is less concern, as when you bolt them on, you test the lock-to-lock and bounce fitment. But Honda also likes really small hub sizes, and that may also be a problem, assuming you accound for the req lug nuts.

typically, offset being changed a lot is what will cause problems here... so.. that statement is somewhat of a contradiction.

the rest of that info is good to know though.. assuming its all accurate. I used a set of 91 integra wheels on my corolla back in the day... and they seemed fine.

I put 04 mazda 6 (16 x 7) OEM rim with 205/60/16 tire on Mazda5. but I'm having a high pitch whine sound even on low speed. I didn't know where that sound coming from. It make my ear like full of air. like to know what cause this sound? I try to put back the stock rim & tire and the sound gone. I'm looking with the tire, I use Goodyear assurance. could this make that high pitch sound? or bearing problem? thanks

I've seen 16" Mazda 626 and 6 alloys used on Craigslist for about $200 to 420, depending on the condition of tires or maybe no tires.

I just got a set of 2002 Protege 16" rims off CraigsList for $120. Plan is to wrap them in a studless winter tire.

if you've got snows, switch to a summer tire for your other set next time... you'll thank yourself.

If I had a choice I'd have summers on some hot 18s, all seasons on OE 17 alloys, and winters on steel 16s. I know quite a few people who've had to prematurely put on winters because the summer tires just absolutely suck below 10C, whereas all-seasons can go all the way down to 0C just fine. I drive 40,000km a year as it is right now so it would be cost justified, but it's hard storing one set of tires in a condo as it is let alone two.

Any pictures of a 5 with the 17" mazda6 wheels? I am debating which wheels to mount the new tires on next spring. Got a screaming deal on these, $80 for the set and they look new!
