View Full Version : AP Tuners in the Midwest area?

I'm from MI...we have two Cobb dealers listed on the website, and only one AccessTuner. I talked with them and they have yet to actually tune an MS3. So I'm looking for a shop in the Illinois/Ohio/Indiana area that has tuned MS3s before and had good outcomes. I don't have anything crazy...just exhaust, intake, BPV, and CDFP at the moment. I just want it to run well, because with the stock tune I feel like I'm missing a whole lot of power, OTS maps didn't help much without causing more issues, and the MAP clamp/MBC route worked OK, but I am looking for a little more in the actual TUNING area instead of fooling the ECU.
Thank you for any suggestions/stories/help

Their tuner is very well known, and he has already done multiple MS3s.

P&L are literally 3 blocks away from me...do you know someone that has had their car tuned there? What do I need to get a tune there? Besides money!
I don't have ap, but I would like to get the car tuned a bit

I wrote them an email yesterday and was waiting to hear back from them. Good to hear that they have done MS3s in the past...I will definitely check them out, thank you!

Have you tried your hand at using the ATR software and tuning it yourself based on datalogs? (dunno)
With your mods list, it shouldn't be that difficult...

Anyone know of a good place close to Tulsa, Ok? I could drive down to Dallas, Tx I suppose.

That shop in Troy, speedindustry Inc. Jan can tune anything. They are getting the software and I'm gonna let him do my speed3. They haven't done it yet but are going to tune a Mazda 5 with a speed engine for car and driver

BudUMFan did you get your car tuned at speedindustries. I live relatively close and if they do good work I would rather go with them instead of traveling to Chicago. Let me know

Last I heard, Jan was waiting to tune a "Mazdaspeed5"...some project for a magazine. they were going to be running the MS3 engine tuned with the AP. At that point (a few months ago) they hadn't had any experience tuning the MS3 platform, and were still waiting on something with the Mazda5 project. Not sure of the current status, but according to Jan as of a few months ago they still hadn't tuned a MS3 with the AP.

hey buddy, your talking about Applied Tuning Solutions in ohio, I actually just picked my Cobb AP up from them last night. as soon as i get my fuel pump internals installed and broken in they will be doing a tune on the car probably next weekend. I will be their first speed3 for AP tune but they have done a few mazdaedits already. Eric and bill both know what they are doing and i have known them both for many years.

Cool, I take it you have not had yours tuned around here yet either.

Nope, I just ended up tuning it myself...just made small changes with specific goals in mind...however, my goals are probably different from other people. I wasn't trying to max out the power, just try to make the OTS map safer and fit my current setup. That's much easier to do than to try to safely squeeze every last bit of power out of the setup.

I meet Eric from ATS - He can do CPE sb, AP (he's a certified Cobb person) but does not have ATP, or mazdaedit - and he's right here in Columbus - nice guy knows what he is doing..
Just in case you want to go a little further OP

A few dozen at this point. Nothing too crazy, but consistent results and progress!
