I'm sure this has already been covered but I'm want to add a JL 8W7 to my Speed3 w/out having to lose any trunk space. Does anyone have pics of some sub installs that are really clean and don't take away from interior space? or at least very little space?
I've seen the pics of subs in the jack compartment but personally I don't want to have a flat and rely on my $400 subwoofer to fix it.

not going to happen with 8W7.

uh...put it in the front seat?
otherwise you are going to sacrifice something...
if you sacrifice the spare then you could fab something in the floor and not lose any trunk space

Fair enough. What are my options then? Has anyone experimented w/ the JL TWF (the flat one)? If anyone has pics of clean installs w/ any sub please post them or attach a link.

If you install in the jack space you can still carry the jack with you... It fits down with the spare tire just fine. Not sure if the W7 will fit there though.
This is my install:

I have the JL 8W3v3-4 sub installed using the "stealthbox" but did a little touching up on the box and the panel to make it look flush. The jack was relocated to under the floor board beside the spare tire. The aftermarket amp was installed underneath the tray where the floor board is in the trunk.
If you can wait till morning I'll be able to post some pictures up for you.

halo0, did you use the JL Stealthbox and install a 12" subwoofer in it? I thought the Stealthbox could only hold an 8" subwoofer.

It's not a JL enclosure, it just happens to have a JL speaker in it. It's a custom made jackstand stealthbox to hold a 10" woofer.

8" is what that stealth box that fits in the jack door is. I couldnt tell you how it you could get a 10" in there. I have a single 10 in the trunk and it doesnt take up to much room but does make it akward to get much else in there. I have a 8" truck box that I need a sub for and am just going to put it below my sons legs on the passenger side floor. I dont run the amp/sub when he is in the car anyway so it is rare that I get to crank it up... Let us know what you end up coming up with.

I have a sedan and I've been looking for somewhere to put my P3. I was debating whether or not to take out the spare. But then I was trying to see if you could take out your back seat, cut a hole in the metal and mount it in there then put the seat back on. Or put it in the back seat in the trunk. Sorry if that's confusing. Basically I'm subbing to see other ideas. Mine moves around too much because of fast turns.

They have cargo nets that hook to the fasteners in the back/trunk. I use those and have the box under that webbing. Keeps it in one spot.

I have a sedan. Not a speed so I lack a cargo net. Haha.

Halo, I really like your install. Very clean. CWPspeed3 has something similar too, which works really well in the hatch.

Thanks :) I did repaint the speaker grill because it was just too much orange. Although I also added orange LEDs (they come on when the hatch is opened), so I guess orange is still well-represented (lol2)
The best part of course is that you don't lose any cargo space.

I really want to be able to move my 10" sub into the jack hole. The only mount i have found will hold an 8" sub.

I dont know how extreme you wanted to go, but this is mine, me and my dad built it. Its a 12" type x, and two 600 watt digital amps to power the sub and six speakers (type x). The box is covered in carbon fiber vinyl and carpet to match the interior carpet.

Honestly the rattling isnt terrible, the only thing that rattles so far is the rear wiper, so what i was thinking is deleting it and just putting a plug in its place. It sounds ghetto, but it really looks stock

Website's been borked for a while now. I don't think anyone is making it anymore, so keep your eyes peeled for a used one or have a shop custom make one for you.

I eneded up making my own last weekend. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be someone in another forum had a how to thread on it.

The side mount in the truck looks great. We installed a subwoofer on the floor of my friends 3 by fabricating an entire new trunk floor and losing the spare tire. It looks ill but if he wants to put stuff in his trunk he has to work around the woofer. Its right in the middle.
