Any opinions?
I've got an '02 Protege DX(auto trans) 2.0...Turbokits.com sells a turbo
for my car...6psi..FMIC...claim a 56% increase in HP.

Not in a hurry to do this..but it would be nice if it did
deliver as promised...my car is quite peppy anyway can only imagine
the torque increase if the HP is gonna go up to 210!

This thing weighs nothing...210HP would make it quite a sleeper!

I'd wanna see the kit before I'd recommend it... and that HP number sounds pretty aggressive. I question either the safety, quality, or truth of the claims.

Yeah I'm in no hurry to write a $2800. check...I've asked them twice
bout my trans and they've assured yes it will work!....what?...3 months! lol

I'm sure eventually the guts of the car will end up on the road somewhere!
Would've been nice though!

there is an upgraded valve body available for the trans which will save the clutch packs from slipping themselves to death. what EMS does this kit use? also, by TSI, does that mean it uses a T25 turbo? if so, 210 hp sounds high, as that is the same turbo stock on the MSP.

210 won't happen till 10psi,

and at 210 the tranny will more likely than fail,

I'm pushing 8psi on a auto tranny (fn4a-el) with the upgraded valve body and it's holding on, other than a few setbacks. (p0715)

no power rating as i haven't dyno'd or perfectly tuned yet, and there's very few options for us when it comes to ems, as the stock ecu controlls the tranny.

Would love to read your build thread rooster...dont have access to the other
board...are you happy with performance?
Also..did you make suspension changes? I finally tested a MSP yesterday and was
major dissapointed..it was sluggish..and the car rode like a bathtub..of course at
90K the suspension might've had major issues! Was glad to get back in my little
ole Protege DX!

I say do it, and just swap the AT for a MT lol. and yeah those numbers are pretty high. u'll think u'll b more in the ballpark of 170-180whp

I'm at 90K, sounds like the one you found was abused... an MSP should feel like a rocket on rails compared to a DX.

Just boosted my auto P5 with the stock MSP turbo. I have an FMIC, upgraded valve body and a bunch of other goodies. I'd say I'm making 170-180 crank, 150-160 wheel. Car is insanely different. Do yourself a favor and buy the upgraded valve body from lentech transmissions if you're boosting. 479+ shipping. Don't run over 8 psi. MAYBE (and that's a big maybe) 9 psi but only with a perfect tune. Even then, I don't know how the tranny will hold up.

with the lentech VB, the tranny is good for ~200-220 whp.

tranny built with a lsd is well capable of holding 500whp+ as seen on the duratec motors

hey FDNB....what did you do for a tune? Did you flash or did you send it
somewhere?
Thanks for the Lentech info..and at only 6 psi..an intercooler..and the tran VB
the engine should be safe..only 60K on it.

if theres a FMIC, it really doesnt matter as the air going into the engine would be cooled anyways by said IC..

ok so i am new to this what is a fmic?

front mount intercooler
it cools the air from the turbo so ur not getting hot air to the throttle body

if u live somewhere where it rains alot then go short ram if not go cai. it won't really make a difference on performance but a short ram will keep u from suckn water thru turbo plus the maf's r very sensitive even a lil water can throw em off
