I'm getting ready to head out and do a bunch of work to the car. One of the things being the seafoam treatment. I did a search but can't find the same thread I found a while back on how to do it. So honestly what is better? Using the PCV or the brake booster line? I highly doubt its ever been done on the car so I want to get all cylinders the best I can; and heard using the PCV only gets 2 of them? And just to make sure, I only use about 1/3 of the can right?

do some searching, you'll find a lot about seafoam treatments.

Yeah, I've already scanned through a bunch of different threads. Maybe I'm not using the right key words or something.

this is a good one, i'd wash out your PCV before you start you engine and do it again when you change the oil after about 50-100 miles, new sparkplugs wouldn't hurt either... but then again, they never hurt to get new ones lol

I even looked in the how to section. haha. Don't know how I missed that. Well I went ahead and just used the pcv. I had already planned on changing the oil and spark plugs afterwards, just have to wait for the engine to cool down. Thanks for the help!

You can look through youtube too.

I wouldn't use the brake booster, use the pcv on the valve cover or if you decide to use the brake booster disconnect it on the manifold instead of the booster. If you suck it into the booster it takes forever to stop smoking.

That's what I was wondering.....which one was better to use. But yeah, the seafoam didn't make much difference for the time being. Cracked mani and bad wga are probably masking any effects the seafoam might have had.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that you have over 90K miles in addition to your other issues. So having only done 1 treatment to address 90K worth of carbon buildup is not going to be enough.

PCV hose is the best method for delivery to the upper cylinders and you might want to do a 2nd treatment and let it sit overnight. Also put the rest of the can in your gas tank at your next fillup.

I have used Seafoam often and have zero idle issues or EGR issues. But it's not going to solve mechanical issues but does a great job at top cleaning the engine and fuel system in my experience.

you can always wait till you get really low on fuel, less thank quarter tank and throw half a bottle in and run the piss out of it then fill your car up and let it mix; cleaning your entire fuel system, it will get in ALL four cylinders, and putting a little bit in your oil wont hurt either.

I definitely planned on doing more than one treatment. But considering its my only means of transportation right now, and I had to work the next morning, I just did that one treatment and called it a day. I'm going to have to wait until I have more time off so I can do a better job. My idle really wasn't all that bad to begin with honestly. I only wanted to do the seafoam because I'm sure its never been done, so it could probably use it. Next treatment I'll definitely let it sit overnight and use the rest in my gas tank.

I'll definitely try that too.

from what i understand, based on what i've read (not personal experience), its best NOT to do it through the brake booster in the MSP, because there is a one-way check valve in the line which might get messed up from the seafoam.
