omg(omg) here goes another cam discussion!!!! there are tons of these discussions on here guys just look around.

Basically tho:

Jdm's - good for small drop in gains but not much tunin potential. mostly stock cars.
Twiggys - radical cams that need computer and cam gear tuning. usually highly modded cars.

FS-ZE's - basically same as jdm's

did i get that right guys as a basic synopsis?

integrals are right there with the twiggy's i think. this is just going off memory from when i read a whole 120+ page thread about cams. Twiggy's if you can still get them come in a couple different stages. so check that out if you are looking at those.

Twiggies, from what specs I've seen around (and I had to dig very deep into past archives) are halfway between Integral Stage Is and Stage IIs. Integral Stage Is are probably okay for a street build... they're still more aggressive than "JDM" cams.

Stage IIs are good for about 12 - 15 peak hp over a standard "165 hp" FS-ZE grind (only the "170 hp" FS-ZE has a grind different from our Australian/Asian market motors, and the difference is only in the exhaust cam) at 6500 rpm.

Stage IIs are extreme to the point of losing low-end torque and negatively impacting idle unless you use cam gears and ECU-tuning. With stock compression, tuning and rev-limiter, you really don't have any power until 5,000 rpm. Great if you have engine management. So-so if you don't. They'll probably be great if you can rev to 7000 rpm or over, since power at stock cam position is still climbing at 6500 rpm. Mine now peaks at 12 hp over stock at 6000 rpm, retuned for more low-end power since we still can't get the Dastek over-rev module to work on this car.

Not really... just the Integrals. It was a job making everything work, since the optimum cams and cam gears for the engine are out of production... but it was a learning experience. :D
