Hi all. I just picked up my new (to me) P5 today. It's a 2003 classic red with the auto and about 80k on the clock. I'm pretty giddy about getting this. Now here's to hoping I don't get a ticket! I'm so use to driving big slow Jeeps that this will take some getting use to. I should have a pic or two up a little later.

OK, here are a couple pics. Quality kind of sucks as I just took them with my little Samsung while it's sitting in my driveway. Wasn't about to pull out my Nikon D40...yet.

Welcome from a fellow A3E owner and sidewalk chalk FTW! haha My driveway is always written/colored on during the summer months.

X2 on any plans you may have for her?

lol about the tickets....you'll soon find out why we like to lovingly call them the 'slotege'. ;)

hehe... i used to have an 03 P5 that i absolutely loved. but, yeah, not the most powerful car the world has ever seen. but compared to the jeep he was driving it's gotta feel like a rocket!

Yeah compared to my Jeep, it's real fast. Though the Jeep was fast off the line, it was made for slow going. I don't think I could get a speeding ticket in a school zone driving the Jeep.

No real major plans for it. I already removed the retarded pin striping down the side. I think I will black out the wheels (or get new ones that are black and keep these for winter wheels), have a keyless/remote start system installed, new deck with AUX input and maybe just a few dress up parts. Not like it's going to be raced or anything.

The last Mazda we owned was a 96 Protege and we loved that car. Driving from upstate NY to MA 1-2 times a month and getting nearly 400 miles to the tank was great and it was a blast to drive.

I'll be hanging around reading quite a bit so I can learn something about these cars. Thanks for the warm welcome.

Not sure if I will actually black out the wheels. I think tomorrow the mirrors will be getting painted and the maintenance will begin. Decided to break out the good camera and snap a few:

what kinda jeep you run in before? When my Cherokee was stock, that 4.0 was a monster! But, on 33's with stock gearing, yeah, not so much. lol

Welcome welcome from another former Jeeper!

I have run a TJ, MJ and XJ. Current is an XJ on 33s. Only thing is I am geared to 4.88 to it is quite fine. Actually it's a little too deep for 33s but fine for 35s. It has lots of torque and always surprises people. Lifted and locked brings the suck for going down the road though!

My old ride. Sold it and my bike for the P5 cause the 12 mpg with the wind behind me wasn't working down here. lol

Real nice lookin. Wish they still made them. Too bad your state makes you have a front lic.plate.

[QUOTE=Op4guy;4798103]Yeah compared to my Jeep, it's real fast. QUOTE]

Somewhat agree. At least I can do 140kmh if I wanted to now. The Jeep struggled to hit 110 at times. But the P5 still feels soooooo underpowered.

And omg. . the gas savings is incredible.
The Jeep: 250kms (average a week city) = nearly $55 cdn
The P5 : 250kms (average a week city) = nearly $25 cdn

Crazy thing is. . . insurance got me for $25 more a month for the P5. Go figure. A 4door, 4cyl, 2wd costs more to insure in the city than a 2 door (removable doors at that), 6cyl, lifted, convertable 4X4.

Ditto. I don't do over 75. Mainly because I am pushing such high rpm's but also when you have Detroits front and rear, they can make the Jeep do goofy things. You don't want that happening going that fast.

All I gotta say is every sharp corner will bring joy and excitement. Your P5 may be slow, but it's corner carving ability is awsome. The feel of the steering wheel, the lateral G-Force provide a great confidence in the car. Not only that, the car has great style for a wagon. It's an awsome Mazda gem. Enjoy it.

Oh sorry, my speeds are in kph, not mph. 110mph I wish!

As steering goes, hell ya the P5 is nuts compared to the Jeep. I'm blown away at how good it feels to drive something that feels as tight as the P5 does.

I have been loving my P5 for the last month or so. Corners great and a blast to drive. My wife has a Kia Spectra 5 and I think she has a little envy! Considering I got about 260 miles to a 20 gallon tank compared to 340 out of a 14 gl tank has been real nice too. Need to get some new tires pretty quick before the rainy season really kicks in but aside from that I have been loving it.

My chrome wheels are actually pretty beat up and flaking-don't be fooled by the pics. Just let me know if you ever get this way. I am usually around. Worst thing about this place is the damn hippie population.

I am running Kumho Ecsta tires right now and I have been very happy with them. Just doing some research on what I will go with in the near future.
