I'm replacing the driveshaft (both sides) on my 02 Protege LX. I'm looking at the shop manual and, following the removal of the shaft from the transaxle, it says "Install the SST into the transaxle to hold the side gears after the driveshaft is removed."

I don't have the SST but I'm wondering what other people do in place of this. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am usually wearing a lace front wig: http://www.royalmewigs.com/lace_front_wigs.html girl, but some of these french lace wigs (http://www.royalmewigs.com) are really pretty. Thank you for sharing ladies, I might just go out and get me a cute little synthetic lace wigs (http://www.royalmewigs.com/synthetic-wigs-c-7.html). Do they tangle too bad at all?

I'd suggest using a short chunk of wood dowel that's the approximate diameter of the splined end of the axle. Then again, I've had someone send me a transmission via UPS, and then installed it, all with nothing to hold the diff gears in place, and didn't have an issue.

Otherwise, if you don't need your old axles for a core exchange, you can separate the axles at the inner CV joint, and use the inner ends (with no c-clip).
