trying to install my medieval rear motor mount....

i got the old one off actually fairly easily, all it required was a trip to sears to get some more 1/2 inch drive ratchet hardware.

Unfortunately, though, the part that i thought was going to be so easy is leaving me stumped.

I don't think the medieval mount is the right size. I can't get the hole for the large bolt to line up, its like a half inch off, towards the front of the car. I managed to finagle it around and get a screwdriver in one side, but it won't give me near enough leverage to pry it into place. I also tried, just to check, putting the long bolt through the hole before the mount was on the 3 studs, but if you do that its way too far off to get back onto the studs. I've played a little bit with moving the engine up and down, but i don't think thats the main problem, at least not right now. The problem is front to back.

Does anyone have any suggestions at all to get this going??

maybe you could get a dremel and grind teh inside of the motor mount a bit more

yeah. I've basically been doing that since i posted... its barely working, and my grinding bit looks like a top hat now, i'm gonna need a new one real soon. I dunno how well i'll be able to grind down enough to make it fit, since its off by so much, but for right now i guess thats the best option.

Any other suggestions welcome, theres an autocross tomorrow i was really looking forward to, i really want to get this done.

well the mount should fit it like a glove... I know when I installed mine I needed my brother to push on the front of the engine so I could slide it (the bolt) in more easily... So is the mount 1/2 inch too far forward or is the engine too far forward???

mount is a half inch too far forward. I'm having to grind enough to be able to move the mount towards the back of the car. Definitely not fitting like a glove. I went and got a carbide cutting bit for the dremel which is making progress much better. I've tried pulling on the engine, and it makes little to no difference, likely because i already have urethane bushings for the other 3 mounts.

FWIW, all 3 of the other medieval mounts had fitment issues as well, none as bad as this though. If he's still around and selling stuff, i wouldn't recommend it... this is a pain in the ass.

Mine had the same fitment issues. Had to take a dremel to it in order to get the clearance. It was weird because only one hole needed to be grinded out. I think some of the fitment issues came up because they didn't realize how much space the powder coat would take up. Fyi, Try getting the powder coating out of all the holes first. Then just dremel the ones out that need it if it still doesn't fit.
