How to pull radio

I'd like to pull the radio to install aftermarket i-pod adapter to back of radio.
Is this a big job? Is there special tools needed? I have Bose system, no sat or nav. Want to get better signal-to-noise ratio with direct input to radio verus the aux in.

Instructions are listed in another thread. Easy to do, but also easy to damage your interior of you're not familiar with how they are assembled.
