the car is leaking fuel from this. quiet a bit of fuel is coming out. the way i noticed it was when i stopped i smelt gas fumes so i opened up the door, peaked under and there was a puddle of fuel directly under this and fumes coming out of it.. what is it? fuel filter?
im guessing this would be the reason for the EVAP code i threw a while back also..
thanks in advance.

this is a low point in the fuel system so im guessing fuel will come out of that line continuesly until the tank is empty.. how do i change this without losing a full tank of gas?

Take your rear seat out, find your little lid to your tank, take the lid off and then it will have your fuel lines/filter on there.. get a little pump with a hose on it, and suck it out into a gas can.

You can't just stick a hose in the gas tank from the outside and pump it out?

i dont see a reason why that wouldnt work. haha maybe we were over thinking things a bit.

Not sure.. I think there is something that keeps you from being able to do that.. I always got it from under the seat/near the fuel pump, that way you are sure to get it all. Because really, if you can stick a hose down in the gas tank lid on the outside, how are you certain you are getting it all? May find out later that you missed a gallon or two. (boom08)

Just better do it the right way.

Here's a link to what I was talking about.. there is a thing inside the neck leading to the tank that keeps you out of it.

after reading that i agree. that is the right way to do it.
what about just disconnecting the gas line from the check valve, putting it in a gas can and letting it drain?

Oh how interesting. I had no idea. Yayaya for learning!

LOL I guess that would work, if you can do it quick enough and have some gas cans on standby.

can anyone explain what the EVAP check valve does.. i pulled it off today ready for fuel to start coming out of the line and it was bone dry. a little fuel dripped out of the valve itself but the lines are dry.

just clamp the hoses with vice grips ffs

or quickly stuff a bolt in the end of the hose

well seeing as the lines are dry im guessing it's because the gas ran out. if the lines go to the top of the tank the gas isn't going to continuously run out.
