Had a few Hondas....Got me a wagon now =D

Hello everyone, just traded my beast a couple weeks ago for my new Protege5 wagon! (yes)

Brief history:
i drove one of these cars alot a couple years ago, my buddy had a white P5 and i drove that thing to georgia and back (i'm in FL) and it ran like a champ, for me the P5 was one of those cars i always liked ever since they came out but never thought i'd get one of my own. Well that changed.

Anyways, to get an idea of my style, here are my cars of the past, starting with the -teenage bodykit-showcar-must do everything imaginable to this car even though you have no money and work at kmart and are still in school phase- to the -just moved out and are saving alot of money cause you live with a friend so you dump it all into your car phase- to the -married and have no money but you do the best you can phase- LOL, enjoy

*I'd like to note that the above picture was taken at her finest moment, you see i smashed the crap out of that poor car on a regular basis and kept fixing it over and over cause i couldn't afford a new car (plus it was cursed...seriously) anyways R.I.P. poor little thing, after that above picture was taken, the NEXT morning (sat.) i was out and some stupid a$$ old lady STOPPED ON A GREEN *&#$ING LIGHT and my brakes/tires were inferior and despite smashing the brakes 2 car lengths early, that was the end of that.

*yes its the same engine as above, just cleaned up. you see this car had close to 200K on the clock so i swapped my JDM d15b into this coupe from the above 4 door and vice versa, then sold the 4 door

*this car was fast, full LS/VTEC swap + GSR transmission, chipped ECU, intake +full Apexi N1 exhaust, etc. etc. etc. - i didn't have ANY money when i got this guy cause i got married and just one disaster after another but i did what i could, here is the dyno sheet, 160WHP and 129 WHTQ - straight motor.

i am aware that the single slammers are not fast, and there is always someone who has had bigger badder stuff, but my first car i managed to save up and buy a swap (sohc vtec was only thing i could afford cause 1st motor smoked) while in school and working part time at kmart, plus the second car i had to deal with moving out cause my mom went nuts (1st engine is same as second, just put it in the new car so as not to waste a swap) and the third car i had to deal with at least 2 major emergencies every month for a year cause i got married and we ran into health complications, so trading a car with a sohc vtec for a ls/vtec dohc was sorta a dream come true for me, i never would have been able to save up the money for something like that.

i know what you mean though, i've been wanting an eg everyday since i saw that pic of my old car, i am thinking of buying a EG as my toy and letting my wife drive the protege (but still modding it of course)

but i would be free to turbo the eg or do w/e the hell i wanted with it without worrying about losing my reliability

i looked them up and they were listed as 1K but what i really like about them is they include upper pillow balls on the front and rear as well as front camber (really like that) - they seem to be the best bang for your buck no matter how you look at it so i'm pretty dead set on them, just gotta wait a little to get the $$$$

very interesting, ever had any troubles, when driving such a long way? i've had too many friends have stupid issues with their turbo'd cars, like boost leaks etc. and the car wouldn't run and they'd be screwed somewhere cause they didn't know what it was.

what kit are you running?? would you mind sending me a link?

Oh sorry let me clarify.. my turbo protege sedan i've only taken on like a 4 hour trip 4 hours there and 4 back many times. with absolutely no problems. my stock p5 i've taken on the longer trips. basically i haven't had a chance to take the turbo one. i wanted to a few months ago but i blew the seals on the other turbo. but i'm pretty positive it'll make it with no problem. the kit i have is MAM 1st gen ss kit with garrett gt2860rs turbo which MAM is no longer around there were makin great products then all the sudden started screwin people over. i guess it really depends on how well ur set up is and how well u know ur car. cuz i've know people that cudn't drive there car like a few hours with out it fuckin up in some way. but i also know people who take there cars states over and drive 16+ hrs with no problems. but aslong as u got a good set up and u ain't runnin alot of boost u shud be good. oh and bout a kit check the for sale section or ask ken at protegegarage he'll tell u whats up

stick with upgrading the suspension. Its where the Pro really shines. If you plan on boost be prepared to spend some money, the the rods are glass and the fact that these motors actually produce torque (lol2) they break trannies also.

By the way your previous honda's looked pretty good.....nice and clean.

^^^i disagree he can find a decent set up and run it on a stock motor with no problems. as me and alot of other member have been doing. also the trannie will hold up just fine unless he's tryna push like 250whp+. but however suspension is def a good place to start

thank you very much! i always took pride in the way my old cars looked (even the grey one even though i didn't have nearly ANY money to work with so i had to pull it out of my ass on that one...) even though they weren't that fast (again, cept the grey one...lol)

one thing i noticed way back when, whenever i was driving my buddies automatic p5 was that the suspension even stock was AWESOME, all the reviews for that car mention that its not big in the power department but excellent on handling.

update on my plans, i'm gonna most likely get a set of Megan Racing coilovers because they are everything that the BC's are but cheaper, plus i've installed them before on my buddies 07 Si sedan and messed with the settings and all that crap and felt them and i've also felt them on my buddies 240SX and i'm thoroughly impressed with them. After that i'm gonna stick with I/H/E and get some spray later one with a set of gauges on the pillar (always wanted that, love the way it looks) PLUS i'm gonna do a little modifying to the engine bay area to make my a/c blow colder...

i dont know about you guys personally, but my buddy has his own shop (if you want some sh#$ check him out, Jetblackmotorsports.com - out of daytona beach - i made thier logo rofl) and we have both had MANY different suspension setups and he said that he had just put a set of BC's on a Maz3 and said they were not what he expected and wasn't much impressed with them, that being said plus the fact i've never heard of them before til now - the choice is clear: Megan Racing Coilovers.


That EG6 with the boosted K20 is fu#$ing KNARLY!!! has he ever posted that on hater-tech?? (honda-tech lol) cause i think i've seen that one before but never knew what it ran as far as hp goes..

one thing i noticed from other boosted 5's was that they made EXCELLENT tq when they were boosted. that might even be a normal tq. rating for a motor such as ours, i'm just so used to honda's cam profile and not making any tq. EVER no matter what you do, that it seemed impressive to me lol

(for all you guys that may try and tell me you CAN make tq. in honda's whenever you boost and build etc etc etc. i know that, but what i'm saying is that if you build and boost a honda you get a SHIT ton of power and a good amount of tq. - its relative, whereas with other cars with different cam profiles you get alot of power and tq. because that manufacturers cam profile happens to keep both very close to each other from the factory)
