Hey, new here --

Question if anyone has an answer -- I have an 05 Mazda 3, 4 speed automatic. Sometimes when it shifts from first to second gear the car kicks back a bit. This only seems to happen at low speed and usually only if ive just started driving the car. If i accelerate a bit faster it doesnt happen at all.

Any ideas?

i have something similiar but that only happens when the engine is cold. but if its warm the tranny is perfect

yeah thats normal.
when its cold itll do that or when the rpm is lower than normal so the gear doesnt shift smoothly.
but its normal, esp when cold

I drive an 04 Mazda 3, 4-speed automatic. I've been having this same issue for quite some time. I've taken it in to the mechanic and I can't seem to find the issue. It feels pretty painful whenever it shifts. It's like it shifts too late/early with the too high of rpm's — and the car kind of punches forward into second gear. Please keep looking for a solution. I'd love to have my smooth acceleration back!

There is a TSB for this...

Near the bottom of the list is "1-2 Shift Shock".
