Hey everyone...Today I was driving around in 95 degree weather..and with my stock tmic I was averaging 91-98 intake temps while cruising around 45-60 mph...and when I was stuck in traffic for 30 seconds or more my intake temps climbed to as high as 149 and the idle average was about 130...These reading were done with my Cobb Accessport..so everyone out there with fmic's and aftermarket tmic's such as Ets or SU..please post your stats to compare how much better they are over stock :) Thanks.(group)

The rise in intake temps may be mostly due to your SRI drawing air from under the hood and behind the warm radiator rather than from outside the car. While the top mount IC may be contributing to the ultimate problem, I would think your IAT's would be lower if you were starting with ambient 95 degree temps going into the MAF.

I believe your MAF sensor reads your IAT's at that point in the system. That's before the intercooler. Your BAT's, which you should be able to read on your AP, would tell you what the temps coming out of the IC are.

But your IAT's set the stage for BAT's. If the IAT's go up one degree over ambient, your BAT's will also be one degree higher than they would have been.

For every 10 degrees of increase in IAT or BAT, you lose 1% of your horsepower. With an IAT of 149, you are down over 50 degrees, over 5% of your available horsepower.

I'll bet that even after you get underway and get some air being drawn into the engine compartment, that it takes at least 15-20 seconds before you start to see the IAT's starting to fall back toward ambient.

Running AEM/MS CAI, Forge with blue/no shim (putting 1 shim in tonite to see if theres a difference) I'm seeing betweeen 2 and 4 degrees above ambient while cruising (higher humidity, higher temp) and as high as 135 while sitting in ubiquitous I66 stop and go or a LONG light. Thats the heat soak, but once the CAI starts sucking that cool air in from the fender well, the temps drop like a brick. REALLY wanna add the Corksport FMIC/Ram Air and see what happens then. But thats after I do a catted DP and buy a new comp.

This car is calling out for a hood scoop. I just wish the only option was not carbon fiber.

What was the ambient (outside) air temp at the same time?

get water/meth injection. i had bat at 136* after setting in traffic for a bit so i decided to see how much the w/i would lower temps under boost so i punched it in 4th to ~14 lbs and saw the bat drop instantly to 90*.

I don't know how well they would be able to match CWP. Isn't white a hard color to match?
