ive been wanting to get a little more sound out of my cx7, but not wanting to spend alot of money. not knowing if ther needed to be a certain amount of back pressure involved. i unbolted the muffler from the flang and removed the donut gasket allowing 2-3 inches from the muffler to the rest of the exhaust. this gave it a pretty good tone. but will it cause problems for me latter?(scratch)

I've heard of guys with Pontiac G8s doing this. I would just buy a real exhaust instead of risking anything just for some noise. My $.02

the way this car was designed, a little bit of oil gets past the turbo seals intentionally. the backpressure from the exhaust *usually* keeps it in check, but once you drop that a little, you are inviting more oil through. the more oil that comes through, the more you "smoke screen" everyone behind you. in other words, i would advise against that and just get an exhaust shop to slap together something cheap for you.
