After a quick job peeling off the white plastic by our employee the MS3 headed home to Vancouver Washington to be a test platform for new products. We will be posting up updates on our twitter account Link for the twitter updates (http://www.twitter.com/corksport)

How does this vehicle feel compared with the first gen?
not so smiley in black is it.
makes me wonder what the other colors would look like with the grills painted to match

It looks ok but I still think the first gen looks better.

The car does feel a bit different compared to the older speed 3. I will write up my 1 day review this evening and post it up when I am done. I spent a few hours cleaning the car from the drive home and the bugs.
Looking at one of these cars in person you do not really get the happy face smile. The black car color is really close to the color insert for the front end.
I am not sure how say a blue car would look painted up the car body color. The car need something to break up the color a bit.

Looks like black is going to be THE color to have on this car. Smiley face definitely blends in and actually looks good. Those shelf-like taillights are another matter.

I've seen a few of the new 3's and the smiley face isn't that pronounced even on lighter colors. I think pictures really make the grille stick out while isn't so pronounced in person.

You really expect them to reply to everyone with a detailed response?
If you write like that guy you wont. I've actually gotten two personal responses including two phone calls from mazda regarding feedback in the past. So I know they get read and I guess if it is relevant they pass it up the food chain.
I've also gotten calls from honda NA before as well.

Awesome! Good to know that the new speeds are shipping. I do hope that the mechanical differences are limited so that the aftermarket can continue to gain economies of scale for all of the speeds. I also predict that Mazda will have a front bumper redesign in the works for the coming model year...how could they not? I like the wheels though!

if the car sells well i don't think we'll be seeing much of a refresh on that front face.

I love those wheels and the grille isn't bad either. I'm not so sure about the hood scoop though. That with the wider fenders makes the front-end look a little bloated.
Tell us more!

I went to the local Mazda dealer just to gaze at the new 3s. With the bumper mounted front plates I actually barely noticed the "smiley face". Yea, not crazy about those tail lights! Love the duel exhaust. Not sure about the scoop. I like the sleeper look. I keep emailing Mazda saying the only way you will get me out of my 07 GT MS3 and into a new one is AWD. I just get the generic "thank you for your input" response.

Good stuff. I'm VERY curious to know what parts are compatible with the first gen though. As you said in another blog entry, the chassis looks VERY similar...practically identical.

I will be paying right around invoice (around $1.2k to $1.5k under sticker)once the car comes in (hopefully this week),
MSRP on the base sport is $23.9k with destination fee (this is what I'm going for)
MSRP on the sport + tech is an extra $1.8k
CorkSport

I paid $24097 including the tech package/destination fee for mine.

shouldnt take more than a fraction of a second to look at the passenger mount if it's still the same FoMoCo POS mount or not.

The motor mounts on the normal 2010's are the same so I doubt Mazda stepped it up on the speeds.

The visible mount on the passenger frame rail says Mazda on it.
