I replaced my SLS passenger side motor mount yesterday because, well, it did not prove capable of handling the mix of city and highway driving that I do. I have replaced it with the AWR passenger mount, and good lord does it make a difference. It's even more robust than when the SLS passenger mount was put in.

SLS, in case you guys peruse through these forums, I had really hoped your product was a quality one and for the first couple of thousand miles, I was convinced. This however, has made me change my mind. I think you need to re-think your design for the mount as I do not think it is suitable for the FS-DE engine in the long haul. The engine vibration, combined with the wear and tear of everyday driving proved to be too much for this mount. The bracket tore right at the mounting point, and while I could still drive the car, it's just not safe. I had to abandon your product for another one that I think has a superior design to handle the madness of the Protege engine.

have you checked the other mounts?

The rear is fine and has no tears. I did the transmission mount myself as soon as AWR/Protege Garage had the 70 durometer one up for sale. It's been in there for a year and is solid. The OEM tranny mount was destroyed when I took it out.

Did you buy that new or used? It looks a bit different from the one I installed back in Apr 2007.

That's a new one, purchased in Feb 2008.

And the AWR passenger side mount did not come out until fall 2008. I looked and looked and NOTHING until after I had spent my money.

Was this there final revised bracket that was made out of steel and double the thickness?? From the pics it looks like one of the first thinner brackets.

Hmm..that is strange. I have no rust on mine at all.
Sorry about your luck.

Yes this mount was the revised one.

And the reason there's rust all over it is because of rock salt. Upstate NY FTW! NOT. You should see the rest of my engine bay, and the bolts on the rear engine mount.

I don't know, the bracket I have looks alot thicker and I have been using the mount for a little longer then your mount with no issues. I would call the company up.

I'm emailing this thread to them. I'm not interested in their product because the AWR passenger mount has been so solid so far I don't think it will be anywhere as bad as the SLS mount. My car is launching better, shifting better and the mount's stiffness has drastically reduced the clutch shudder that I've been hating for some time now. Hell, I would argue its even putting the power down in a more effective manner too.
