There have been abunch of people who blew out second gear. I believe they all had to rebuild tranny. id say around a grand

BTW how many mile do you have on the car, and when you mean out does it pop out when you put it in???

What are your mods, and what were you doing at the time of the failure?

I'm sure it will run you closer to $2000 once everything is said and done.

I have almost the same problem. my 2nd gear pops out and the dealership said I have some broken gear teeth.

Im also wondering what the problems were from other people that have had this problem

Probably the same BS story everyone else says with blown motors...
"I was just driving normally and it stopped working, I was out of boost, driving my Grandma to church and then going to volunteer at the local orphanage"
hehe, j/k

stupid question but shouldnt that be covered under the powertrain warranty. it says it does not include wearing parts so i can see them not servicing the clutch disk, but sheared teeth would be something they have to fix. if you beat on your car 1st would be fuckd up too, not just 2nd so you could argue that. just thinkin out loud

actually it's normally 2nd and 3rd that suffer when people abuse their cars, can't shift, race, or all of the above.

well in that case might as well go all out and get straight cut gears for 1-3

I know you may just be kidding, but we all hear this kind of crap constantly and it irritates the hell out of me.

"My clutch just went out, anyone else have this problem?!"

And then, after some prodding, it turns out he is fully bolted, running a bigger turbo, and power shifts his poor car every time he has the chance. Go figure.

I'm not saying this is the case here, but I once again have the feeling that the OP is leaving out some useful information.

Hmm. My 2nd and 6th are out, though it's only when it's below 70 degrees and for the first 10 minutes or so. End up rev matching or double clutching just to get those gears to work, otherwise it's fine when it's warmed up.

my second gear has been fucked up since i got the car. dealership told me to fuck off.
when i put my car in second, i HOLD IT there and it still occasionally pops out. i haven't lost it yet, and i've been having this problem since i was stock.
rear mount didn't help.
shifter bushings didn't help.
sts didn't help.
i haven't done mt-90 yet, but i'm certain that won't help either. hahaha.

I had my transmission rebuilt under warranty due to 4th gear grinding @20k miles. The total cost was close to 4k
