Idk if this has already been asked but is there a difference in the actual engines between the msp and the regular protege? im talking internally because im looking to forge and wanted to get a regular protege engine and build that so i can just keep my msp block in until its complete and ready to drop in

the engines are the same aside from the bolt on things...

The internals are the same, but there are some minor differences. The MSP engine has an oil cooler between the block and oil filter, and the bearing support plate between the block and oil pan has an opening for the oil return from the turbo. If you decide to build a NA Protege engine make sure to swap both of those from your MSP engine once you get ready for install. You can get by without the support plate swap by tapping the oil pan, but it's recommended that you return the oil through the support plate as it sits above the oil level. The oil cooler is a must for boosted applications, you don't want your oil cooking inside the turbo.. that shit gets HOT!!
