What would cause your tranny dip stick to look dry when its runing....

Im having issues with my 04 Mazda 3 156k on it car keeps going into Limp mode when it gets cool as well it shows its in 4th gear but it just revs when its in it.



any help would be nice.. i hope i dont need a rebuilt

it could be so low that the engine sucks it into the system, but when the engine is off in drops back down?


im pretty sure you have to test the level when its running

the reason it just revs when its in 4th is because its slipping

your prolly looking at some worn components and and underlying problem causing your vehicle to enter limp home mode

Would Limp mode cause it to not go into 4th?

it all depends on what the vehicle is trying to avoid doing

no fluid on the dipstick with the engine running is a sure sign that its low on fluid, as the level is supposed to be checked with the engine running and preferably after shifting thru the gears in place running thru low back to park

hmm, it also is changing gears at wrong times. IE 40kph it would go into 4th.
But i limped it to Mazda. As well when the motor is cold i can goto 4th but it will not catch, at optem temp the AT light comes on and i cant use my Triptonic shifter, the light on my dash gos blank.
