Anyone tried this yet? How do you like or not like it.

I have Turbosmart Ultimate BOV, running it 50/50 and it works and sounds great. I definitely recommend it.

I have the TurboSmart BPV. I assume you're referring to the factory-type replacement and not the hybrid BOV.

I have a noticeably better response from the engine with it using the light spring (low/factory boost). Absolutely no problems. It eliminated the 'flutter' I would get sometimes in boost between shifts that the factory BPV had. Boost is smooth and full through the powerband. It looks like factory and one of those things you can install and forget about :) .

My engine has zero power modifications currently, however I will be adding a short ram and test pipe later this week.

Does this BPV make any sound different than stock? I want a more durable pure BPV, but do not want the honks, chirps, pings and other irritating sounds.

I'm mildly modded (I guess) with a CAI and 3 inch catless DP/RP into the stock CBE and one step colder plugs (see sig), and probably producing about 40 whp above stock. I have a manual boost gauge which tells me my stock BPV is not leaking. But I just want something a bit more durable and still sounding stock. Will this BPV do this for me?

Youtube it. I think it sounds stockish.
I've heard nothing but great things about this BPV. All the boost capacity of the Forge with no "annoying" ping or clash sound.

I agree. Check out the videos on youtube. I can tell you that on my stock intake I don't hear any difference between this and stock. However, I am picking up a short ram tomorrow and I can give you an update hopefully tomorrow night. From youtube vids, it appears to be significantly louder than what I get on my factory intake.

Ive got the Forge and its actually pretty quiet. No ping, clash, nothing. Unless your on it hard, there really isnt any loud sound. And even though, I honestly dont think its loud enough that it draws attention from anyone outside the car. Performs awesome as well.

However mine is the prototype that Forge made, im not too sure if this became a final product in there line. I think patty at forge has some left. Contact him if you happen to become interested.

Btw, in case you were wondering, mods on my car are PG Inlet, CP-e Nano SRI, CorkSport RP.

PM me if you need help with the intake.

Thanks for the feedback to me, guys. I hope it also helped the OP. Problem with video clips is that microphones vary, distances vary, etc. They never end up like the real world sound. I just want that same quick release of air - "ffft" without any bird calls or Mario crap.

agreed with the microphone differences and the quick release of air .. i can try to post a video of mine if u want to listen .. again its the forge prototype. VERY inexpensive as well.

Ya thanks guys i was asking about the bpv not the 50/50. Id like to run full recirc and while i dont mind the sound of the forge, i just would rather go with the turbosmart. Im curious to see how it sounds with the nano or the cobb sri.

Honestly, I would get rid of the stock bpv no matter what. I have tried a few different valves and I have to say everyone of them allowed the turbo to spool faster. You don't know what you are missing until you try a different valve.

I'm not leaking boost on the stock BPV. How would another BPV change my spool up rate? What testing did you do? What objective data do you have to support your claim? Just curious.

I don't have any supporting data but if you do a simple rolling acceleration in first gear with stock valve followed by an aftermarket one, you will see what I am talking about. Since the valve takes two minutes to replace, the back to back comparison is easliy obtained.

My stock valve wasn't leaking either (holding 16 PSI spiking to 18) but I thought i'd give an aftermarket valve a try anyway and I was happy with the results.

I duplicated how the stock valve feels by turning the stiffness of my turbosmart all the way down. I was holding boost fine but the initial spool was slow. As soon as my setting was stiffened the spool sped up.

You don't have to beleive me but atleast give it a try. It can't hurt.

Here is what I think is happening with the different BPV set ups (somebody please correct me if i'm wrong). When you are at idle you have a good amount of vacuum pulling on the valve from the intake manifold. When you accelerate you get a slight pressure spike that pushes the valve open a little before the intake manifold pressure catches up and closes the valve.

With a stuffer BPV set-up the slight pressure spike I talked about above will not overcome the spring force keeping the valve closed.

The only way to confirm this theroy is if you can get a pressure measurment on the area of plumbing between the turbo and the throttle plate. This will tell you the true pressure difference on both sides of the bpv.

Does this make sense?

Get the Forge, install it and you will say holy shit the first time you get on it through the gears.

I really want to get this bpv...Im with MSMS3..I dont need a fancy dancy bov..I need something that will hold boost better and is built better. I plan to get custom tune soon prabaly in the 17-18 psi neighborhood...this car is a daily driver just need something that holds that top end power more and I dont have to keep adjusting it all the time too. Right now Im running the oem bpv..but am itching to get this before my custom tune hmmm.

Question regarding the installation, the smaller hose nipple coming from the top of the BPV. For this nipple do you re-use the factory hose? Or replace it with another one? The reason for asking is my factory hose is little lose even with the metal clamp.

When I ordered mine it came with the small hose. You also have a choice of a few different colors. Fitment is very good.

Ok another question, how did you get the metal clamp off the rubber hose located on the throttle body off? Visually looking at the hose you have to take the inter-cooler piping off just to get to the metal clamp.

all you need to know is the stock bpv is plastic. haha that alone made me change, you do notice a difference between stock and aftermarket valves. i'd say HKS in recirc is damn quiet. i like it. i ran it in VTA for bit when i had the hose kinking problem but nothing the front mount didnt fix :D

I'd like to try a different valve set up tho just for shits an gigs. i like the whoosh sound, i think i'd like it to be a little louder but i think thats just the ricer in me.
