We've been seeing alot of requests for a DIY intercooler pipe kit for the mazdaspeed3, so we're making one. We'll be offering a full FMIC kit based off these pipes, but for those looking to do their own setup on a budget and get all aluminium big diameter pipes - look no further :)

The kits are two weeks away from completion and will include all cold and hotside piping needed to make a complete FMIC kit. couplers and clamps will be included with every kit. The factory BPV flange will be welded on. The kits will work on all Mazdaspeed3s including the GT model. Retail price will be $300, I want to intro them and blow them out to you guys at $250 shipped. With the right core, you've got yourself a front mount intercooler for under $500. Not too shabby ;)

2.5 inch mandrel bent is the piping. so whether you have big turbo or small turbo, you're going to have maximum flow. i'll get the exact specs on the core for you guys.

seems like copying cobb's or cpe's core sizes would be a good idea and the cpe kit does go with the 2.25 pipes - i know turbo xs's core has been called too big by a few folks..

I am trying to work with a local Mazda dealer to purchase an out of state Speed3, currently have a MkIV GTi. I purchased a generic FMIC kit for the GTi, but that didn't get anywhere. The core I have is 28" x 2.5" x 8" and would like to use it with this kit. As a question/suggestion, would it be possible to have the pipes long enough to fit a wider intercooler but with reinforced silicone hoses to mate with shorter ones? (Possible the installer could trim the hoses to fit.) Or will the pipes be cut to fit a specific length intercooler?

i'll rain right back :) exhaust depot's kit does not include couplers and clamps for $300 or $350 per their site. so at $250 for an intro price or $300 retail with those parts included, ours is the better bargain. i'll powdercoat, but because we're going with aluminium pipes, you won't need powdercoat if you like a nice polished finish.

there will be an option for t-bolt clamps or worm gear. and speaking on the basis of experience, a properly tightened worm gear clamp under 30psi is more effective than a t-bolt which is overtightened at any PSI, which is far more commonly done than one might think. t-bolt clamps are great when used right, worthless when not, and all but the highest boost levels are more hype than anything else.

you are on the right track here. the core we'd be selling is 27x7x2.5. you can make modifications to the pipes to fit whatever core you'd like, thats the beauty of buying a pipe kit over a completed FMIC kit. its very possible to be well under $500 for a FMIC once all is said and done here.

I would if it wasn't a slushbox... Being an '03 auto has it's downsides. Still upsidedown on the value (purchased last year) hoping to get close to what I owe for it.

Saw an '07 modded out Speed3 goin for 17k, fmic, cai, the works.. May get in touch about that one.

got some final kit pictures as well as some installed pictures. i had not said so until now, but the kit was originally the design of Mazda3Mods. We have purchased the rights and designs to their product line now that they have discontinued and more or less left the market. I hadn't said anything until now for a variety of reasons, mainly to do with their last group buy. I know some people were left out in the cold on that buy and the pricing here that we are offering is better than what was offered there - I wasn't looking to offend anyone who bought from that GB. with that said, having finished up our own production of the design and installing the kit, i'm comfortable with making it known that we've bought the design and rights to it from M3M.

No, I believe he is saying the just the FMIC gave those gains. He just listed the mods already on the car that the FMIC was installed on. The FMIC may gain more/less power depending on the supporting mods.

Don`t forget that those numbers were probably peak gains. There might be other points along the curve that have even greater overall gains but are less than the new peak. I`d bet the "area under the curve" shows a significant improvement, which is a lot better than a peak spike, anyway.

the dp alone would give you almost double that up top and a mid range like you wouldnt believe.

look at how they build the front of the srt-4. comes stock with a fmic and only honeycomb chicken wire. just dont tail gate. think of your radiator...thats out in front and has been for the life or your vehicle. if its busted id say get something in front of your IC....if its ok then im sure your safe enough to ride without "protection".
