05 mazda 3 hb 2.3L. CEL is on and car idles like sh#t and no acceleration. I hit a puddle last night and think that I sucked up some water. Cleaned and dried intake. Prom remains. Went to Advanced auto and had the diagnostics run...Error P0103 MAF or VAF A circuit High Input. Cleaned and dried MAF and connections and cleared the code. Prob still remains. Now I went and replaced the MAF and cleared the code again. Prob still remains with the same Code. Please any help is appreciated.

turn the vehicle off and then unplug the mass air flow sensor
then restart the vehicle and observe running conditions and get back to me

alrightly this eliminates the sensor and related wiring from the list op possible problems because the vehicle would be forced into a "back up" strategy with the sensor unplugged and run better if the sensor was the issue
i am looking thru engine performance wiring diagrams and will se what i can find
when exactly did the drivablitiy problems begin? immediatly after hitting the puddle or the next time you started the vehicle
same question for the MIL, when you hit the puddle or next start or drive cycle

it bogged down about a 1/4 mile down the road after hitting the puddle and I am not sure what MIL means but the light also came on immediately if thats what you are asking. sorry

Mil is the malfunction indicator lamp which is displayed as the "check engine" light "service engine soon" or the engine symbol

pull back the cover on the wiring leading up to the maf, its very common for the wires to break, there is actaully a recall for some VIN numbers. not sure what your VIN is, but it would be something to look into. chances are if there is no difference wether its plugged in or not would lead me to believe its an electrical issue.

ok ...now we have figured that its the broke wire on the connector to the Maf. The dealer is telling me that I need to buy a whole harness for 700, I cant buy just the clip and reconnect all the wires and all the auto stores dont sell it either. Is there a way to remove the broken piece of wire in my current clip so that I may just splice and reattach? I have tried pulling it out but to no avail.

we used to be able to order connectors all the time and splice them in. i am sure if you search the internet for denso MAF connector you'll find something

There is a way you can depin the connector and resplice the wire. Let me see if I can find a picture for you.

You would need to find a really small flat head screwdriver. Almost like about the size you would need to fix the arms on sunglasses.
