Hello,

My Cx-9 came with Sirius sat. I recently purchase online the switch box to enable the AUX switch ($120+shipping). My dealer says it is 3 hours labour to install.
I can't justify spending $430 just to recover an auxiliary port. Before returning the part though, I'd like to know what you guys in Raleigh, NC area are paying for this.

Thanks.
Richard

maybe if you bought the part from them to begin with, they wouldn't be trying to rape you so bad!

why don't you try installing it yourself? there's instructions for these

I actually started ... then I got to the step where I need to actually open the center console, the instructions don't say anything how to do it. I don't see any screw to unscrew either. I suspect it is doable though...

Center console?
If you need pages from Workshop manual, give me a PM.
It has clear illustrations on how to remove the center console.
I will send them to you.
DIY is fun and save $$$ in the process.

Center console is pretty easy to remove. Which parts need to come out for the switch?

Look for Sirius install instructions in this forum. It has instructions for opening the dash. It's easy really.

I printed console removal instructions from the Sirius kit manual. They seem detailed -although could be easier with actual pictures- and apparently no tool is required.
Now waiting to get to the car and identify the location of the bolts.
Will let you know. Thank you.

I did the installation.
The bad news is everything works absolutely as it did before: no sounds from the AUX port, even after cranking up the volume. It could be the IPod to AUX cable. Could be...
The good news is everything works absolutely as it did before.
The other good news is I am no longer scared at thought of opening the console.
If I don't manage to get it work, I will return the switch box and get a third party IPOD integration kit such as one of these:

I don't have any need right now for the AUX port other than listening to the Ipod.
