K&N Typhoon for $270?

Really want to purchase this thing, but not sure if it's worth it at all...

I think that the only mod I want to do to my car is a short ram intake. But the one thing that makes me wonder if I should even do that is in my previous car (a 05 focus), I installed a steeda short ram and didn't notice any peformance upgrade from it. Only made the car seem louder in hard accelerations or in the morning when the car would first warm up...

But $270 for this thing seems like a pretty good deal from what I hear.

A CAI on a turbo car is a lot different than on an NA car.

$270 for a SRI? Cobb has one for $165 and CP-E has one for $200.

I've got the CP-E one and really like it. I find the K&N one really expensive for what it is.

What's nice with a turbo car is that you actually get gains, but the motor doesn't get any louder at all, and you really hear the turbo whistle.

I have the K&N SRI. I also had a focus, but had the Cosworth CAI, and it didnt seem any faster, just louder like you mentioned. I went with the K&N for a couple of reasons, for one I wanted a SRI and wanted one that wouldnt raise any eyebrows at my local dealer, because K&N is a known & reputable brand. It is not very loud, and you'll notice some extra pull in the midrange. You'll also hear you bpv release which I personally enjoy.

Personally not a fan of K&N filters as they allow significantly more damaging dirt particles through VS other filters. I went with this $150 SRI that incorporates air straighteners which I view as important and put an AEM dry flow filter on it.
