So is there a way to make the speakers sound better? I heard you can put that aluminum tape stuff around them or inside the doors so the sound doesnt escape...? How bout the rear speakers? (I have new speakers, not factory speakers)
Thanks.

Well to start off, the tape you mentioned is really to be used as sound deadener, more on that later. There is no way to make speakers "sound" better. You need to replace the stock speakers with aftermarket speakers to get better quality sound. If you are a quality nut then try out some Infinity Kappas or Focals or basically any more expensive speaker. Another way to get better sounding speakers is to replace your stock headunit with an aftermarket one. I have heard good things about Pioneer and Ecilpse. In audio you get what you pay for. As to the sound deadener, it is used to change the resonance of your door skins both the inner and outer. It accomplishes this by adding mass which is why the heavier the mat the better you will be. You can layer the mat to be equivalent to a heavier mat. The mat changes the resonances of the door to destroy the unwanted waves coming to you i.e. outside noise and noise caused by your speakers. It is said that it can lower your unwanted noise by 3 db (decibels). Another product you can put in your car is an absorber mat which basically is like memory foam. This foam will absorb the back pressure wave from your subwoofer in your door and will also reduce unwanted noise. To create a sound system in your car that is worth its weight you will need sound deadener.
I hope this answers your questions.
